Just what it says. Now that the OD&D PDFs are out again, everybody write (email) WOTC to rerelease the CHAINMAIL PDF.

Are they the IP holder/controller?
Absolutely, I picked up a white box OD&D many long years ago, '84 or so but I never got to read Chainmail.
I wondered why they didn't do it in their wooden box deluxe OD&D release.

It seems unlikely that they've sold it in the last 8 years.

I shall:). In fact, I've wanted Chainmail longer than I've been interested in OD&D, since it seems a lot of what I dislike about D&D is due to the "alternative combat system"!
Hopefully they are the IP holder indeed, but if they're not, I'm pretty sure we can organise a KS to buy it off;).
Is there a particular email address to send it to? I sent one to wizard's customer support.
Chainmail would probably have considerably less sales than OD&D. But it might still be viable. If it is, sooner or later it will be out.
Isn't the same true for pretty much all the supplements?

well lets be honest historically valuable though it is its not the most valuable thing wotc owns
Then scan it and upload it.
They're accepting submissions, and Chainmail's on the list:

Better yet, actual books since PDFs suck.

I
really hope some of the people that actually own Chainmail will take them up on this:).

Me too, I don't know if I'll get the chance anytime soon. My scanner is a one-page-at-a-time. I've got one of the plastic-comb-binding versions, but it's got Ents and Hobbits and Balrogs in it.
I find it most interesting that among the treasures Wizards of the Coast is after are the super-rare original Lost Caverns of Tsojconth, Ghost Tower of Inverness and Lost Tamoachan modules; the idea of seeing those in the wild, even as .PDFs, makes me giddy.

same its fantastic
All the 4 supplements are released, but I see no Chainmail:).
I'd like to say I don't see it yet. But not being privy to WotC's plans, I'd rather not sound overly optimistic;).
Chainmail would be nice, but what we really need for OD&D is Wilderness Survival.
There are about 40 copies on eBay right now, probably a similar number on bgg. I think Rob Conley posted the map converted into fantasy-style symbols a while back--that's really all you'd need.

It was a joke. I love a game that uses another game published by a different company as part of game play.
