This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Not a King Stannis Challenge, but...
« on: April 01, 2006, 03:33:23 PM »
I'm thinking of running an Iron Heroes campaign, I want the setting to be pseudo-historic.

Generally pre-medieval, but I want to throw in Rome as it is collapsing in on itself, Moorish Empire in Spain, Vikings, Celtic myths (filtered through Slaine), Mongal Hordes and god knows what else.

All magic in the campaign comes from demons and thus even if used for good, has a serious cost. No PC spellcasters but items will be available, just equally as they are dangerous to the user as they are powerful.

IE: It's not an attempt to be authentic, just if it's cool chuck it in the pot.

Not decided on PC Races as yet, could be all Human, might allow a variation Giants from Arcana Unearthed, or as a wierd idea, let people take a feat that awakens a racial type in them, and then they can change from being human.

At the moment it's all very sketchy so I was wondering what other weird off the wall ideas other had come up with that might fit.

Edit: This should really be in Games Settings I suppose (still trying to get the hang of the forum structure).

Rome collapsing because of its diversity and dependence on soy products?

Good luck with the campaign!
