I run a public game in a bar with all sorts of political affiliations, genders, sexual preferences, different ethnicities and skin pigments and there is a little banter, but nothing disruptive. I'm very proud of the group, everyone just plays the game. And we are in the US...

I've already quit the hobby - I just read rpg forums for the schadenfreude at this point.  D&D (and rpg's in general) is in the same place as Star Wars is right now.  It's just a hollow impersonation of something I used to love that is being regurgitated by a soulless committee using it as a platform to spread their propaganda.

Unfortunately, charity giving has become political statements, and corporations such as WotC are using charity as virtue signalling. That's the problem, not the LGBT gamers who have been welcome gamers at many tables since the earliest days. Its a shame WotC wouldn't donate to a non-political cause everyone could have cheered on, like donating 10,000 D&D starter boxes to Christmas toy drives.  

And yes, Pundy is promoting his own products as he crusades against his foes. Might as well. It apparently works well in the YouTuber world and Zweihander boasts his shitposting guerrilla PR campaign has translated into significant sales.

Also, I'm quite sure WotC isn't on Pundy's favorite RPG company list.

The vast majority of RPGers don't know ANY of this wankery even exists. The vast majority of gamers want to game and have fun.

Unplug the outrage box and get with a group in meat space, roll some funky dice and have a great time of pretend elf.

D&D has long escaped the soulless committee. There are a dozen retrowhatevers for whatever edition you enjoy and you can always find players for the old stuff.

This is a really good vid from Pundit here, as he's 'set out his stall' so to speak. Now the SJW crowd don't really have any traction to accuse him of being trans/homophobic, etc. Or that he's trying to stop people from trying to get into the hobby. He's said 'everyone' is welcome...

That said, you know a lot of 'em won't bother to get past the basic logic in the vid and will still just bad mouth him because he's just an 'evil doer'. No SJW likes to be accused of being an 'infiltrator'. They have rather thin skin.

Personally, I'm all for social justice. But I can't stand the SJW crowd and the way they operate (especially, the ones in this hobby).

I just feel that what is a common sense approach to the issues shouldn't need a label. That gamers should just be gamers. That fans of other media should just be fans of other media. And let it be what it is.

The crusading types inevitably burn themselves out. Or they finally hit the wall of 'no' enough that they realize that their garbage isn't going to be tolerated. Or they become one of the many cults out there that end themselves after they realize that the world isn't going to be shaped according to their individual whims.

SJWs make a lot of anti-straight-white-men (& anti-others low on the Intersectional status ladder) comments, but I've not personally seen this affecting the hobby in realspace. I understand it does affect geek conventions, and that seems to be the major battleground. RPG Internet fora sort out pretty strictly into 1. Social Justice, 2. Apolitical, and 3. Libertarian, so there tends not to be much contested ground, just the occasional incursion (a Libertarian posts on RPGnet, a Commie posts on Dragonsfoot, etc).

Thinking about gaming in London, in the scene I'm involved in everyone is welcome (bar total catpissmen) and we all seem to get on ok regardless of race, sex, preferred gender pronoun, sexual orientation, et al. Judging by the UK D&D Facebook group I joined recently there is a certain degree of healthy scepticism regarding US centric Internet crusades, whether for Social Justice or anti-SJW. I hope this continues; the 'Convergence' of EN World is certainly a concern as a potential vector of infection, as is Dragonmeet adopting SocJus coding; but neither is a big deal here. I suspect it's hard to enforce SocJus tropes in the typical pub environment most public games play in. I hope things stay cool.

As far as I can tell, nearly all of this 'SJW' hysteria is made up. Sure there are shrieking dip shits on the left, and if you hunt around on the internet you will eventually find them. But why? I've never seen this in the real world. I can't remember the last time it happened in a forum I was following. I own hundreds and hundreds of game books and have never encountered a condemnatory or exclusionary 'SJW' message. All you pansies should sack up and stop spending all your energy griping about imaginary meanies.
