This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I recall several years ago there was a mailing list used by publishers that utilized the d20 SRD - http://opengamingfoundation.org/mailinglist.html

These links are all but dead. Does anyone know if they are truly dead, or just moved elsewhere?

Oh, okay. Answering my own question...

The mailing lists were killed in 1997, then supposedly moved to Enworld. I knew there were publisher forums on Enworld, but I don't see them any more, so they must be killed.

There used to be a lot of good information on the license itself. One thing Ive been thinking about is depictions of monsters based on the SRD.

Art is considered by default as Product Identity.

Various monsters are depicted in the Monster Manual(s), Pathfinder's Bestiary, etc, with characteristics that are similar to each other (near identical), yet the actual textual descriptions never go into that level of detail. Some basically have almost no detail.

Consider for example - the Xorn. There isn't any example from mythology to draw on. Therefore, the depiction of the Xorn comes from either the text of the SRD or by way of duplicating qualities depicted in copyrighted artwork.

Now the legal discussion on those lists were quite good. I wanted to see what is said about this. I have a project that would involve depictions of monsters in a new way (can't go into specifics until the time is right).

You may wish to try asking on the Pathfinder Compatible publishers/products area.  A lot of the same folks are there and similar issues have brought up good discussion.  Of course, one of the responses will be contact a lawyer.

For example, this thread: http://paizo.com/threads/rzs2p22y?Section-15-OGL-and-Exhibit-B-items  (Not exactly your question, but I wanted to show the feedback you can get.)

(I like theRPGSite and support it, but the linked forum seems to have the correct audience for this question.)
