This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I second the name "The Eye" short for "The Eyes of the Emperor"

BTW, over the years I have had to do a lot of name changes for Aquerra since I first started detailing it when I was 17 years old - so I have a lot experience in this.

A couple of years ago I retroactively renamed the "Elite Secret Guard" (jeez, what a plain name!) to "The Baron's Glove" (i.e. they keep his hands clean of the day to day dirty work that keeps him in power) and the wizardly arm of that organization is "The Dark Hand".

Now, what are those in Arabic?  I want something somewhat alien sounding, and the nation has always had a slight Arabic feel.

FWIW, my homebrew does not have a Common tongue.  Communication barriers are very real and "Speak Language" is a pretty important skill.

well, finding phonetic arabic translations is hard - but I found some posibilities.  I usually take words from other languages and tweak the roots.

al Ghayb - That which is beyond the reach of human perception.

Far - A branch or subdivision

So, "Far'al Ghayb" could roughly be "A Division of which is beyond the reach of human perception"

Ameer al Mu'mineen: Literally, Commander of the Believers. The title was first given to any commander of a military mission but was later used specifically for the head of the Muslim state (you might use this for theis corps commander)

Sadd al Dharaa'i - means "blocking the means" - so you could use this referring to blocking the means of disobeying the emperor. . .

Just off my head. . .  using google :)

That I like...  I'll have to remember that one for my Spycraft games.

Ooo... shiny!  I should be able to do something with those.

If I could give rep, I would.

Write yourself a note for later ;-)

Actually, this is something I am pretty good at and enjoy doing - so feel free to hit me up for more name ideas.

Several divisions of the group could exist:

The Eye (short for The Eyes of the Emperor) are the investigative division, like inquisitors.  Wizards all, people fear them maybe most.

The Hand (short for The Hands of the Emperor) are the more militant division.  They have two basic branches - the Hand of the East and the Hand of the West - covering the Empire.

The Shadow (sort for The Shadow of the Emperor) are the spies and moles that infiltrate and gather information for the Eye and the Hand.  Some say the Emperor's Shadow falls on all lands and all families... you never know who may be in the employ of the Emperor.
