This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Muhammad: The Perfect Paladin?

Hi-

Was watching the history channel about the The Qur'an ("Qor-Ann") and I really came away with the feeling that Muhammad was the perfect Paladin on a quest to unite his people under one god. Very cool stuff indeed. Heres a link to the The Qur'an ("Qor-Ann") websight:

Let the disscussion begin!

See just like the bible, the good or the bad of the Qur'an has all to do with whose interpreting it.

Sepulcrave's story hour is all about a schizm in a lawful good religion, with paladins fighting it out on both sides.

Sometimes I get that feeling about the Big Three monotheistic religions. The religions themselves, boiled down to just the holy books and leaving out all of the cultural baggage and subsequent dogma piled onto them, are very, very similar.
Next phase, new wave, dance craze, anyways, it's still rock and roll to me.

You can talk all you want about theory, craft, or whatever. But in the end, it's still just new ways of looking at people playing make-believe and having a good time with their friends. Intellectualize or analyze all you want, but we've been playing the same game since we were 2 years old. We just have shinier books, spend more money, and use bigger words now.

It's fun to start chatting with them and then suddenly, out of the blue, ask them things like "Have you found your Savior Lucifer yet?" or "Only Satan can save you from the lies of the tyrannical God!"

Yeah, I can bet they've never heard that before.

I just try to remember that to them, solicitation is an act of compassion.
I have a theory, it could be witches, some evil witches!
Which is ridiculous 'cause witches they were persecuted Wicca good and love the earth and women power and I’ll be over here.

Well, it's a bit like answering to telemarketing harassment by "I'm sorry, Mister, but you must have made a mistake, for I actually do not have a telephone."

Everybody knows the joke. But so few people manage the nerve to actually say it that the telemarketer is dumbfounded when it happens.

Gotta love them Eastern religions. They always manage to shake up discussions on the Big Three.

I hate to say this, but I was "visited" tonight by an Outreach group of the local mega-church. And I was too damned lazy to invite them in before telling them to fuck off. I just said "No" when they asked to come in, and "No" when they asked to give me "literature". In the past, I've been at least creative enough to inform them on local policies regarding solicitation.

I failed completely this time. :(

I make a point of answering the door naked when I see vermin of this sort. 300 lbs. of naked hairy pollack drives most asshats away quickly. :)
