6th level conundrum

In my campaign, I'm playing a Changeling Wizard. We're gonna be hitting 6th level soon and I'm not sure what to take next. I'm planning on taking the Recaster PrC (from Races of Eberron) but I'm sure if I want to start it next level, which I can, or take another level of Wizard. Here's a list I came up with of what I get. What do y'all think?

1st level Recaster
  • Does not gain a spellcasting level
  • +2 to Will save
  • Gains Eschew Materials
  • Can use either Sudden Still Spell or Sudden Silent Spell (you choose at the moment of casting) once per day per class level

6th level Wizard
  • +1 to BAB
  • +1 to all saves
  • Can cast an extra 3rd level spell per day
  • Gains two new spells

i'm convinced that stopping with 6 levels of wizard is better than stopping at 5

I would say start now.  You can always take something with more flash later on.

Here's something else I'm looking at.

At the 2nd level of the PrC, I get to choose one spell from ANY (and I do mean ANY) spell list to add to my spellbook. This spell must be one level lower than the highest level spell I can cast. At the 2nd level of my PrC, I also get a +1 to my spellcasting class.

So if I'm a 5th level Wizard/2nd level Recaster, I'm a 6th level caster, which means the highest level spell I can cast is 3rd. So my choice from other spell lists is 2nd and below.

If I'm a 6th level Wizard/2nd level Recaster, I'm a 7th level caster, which means the highest level spell I can cast is 4th. So my choice from other spell lists is 3rd and below.

I will also get to choose another spell when I hit the 4th level of my PrC.

This is why it's a conundrum. Should I go ahead and take the 6th level Wizard now or wait next level? Or should I really take it at all?

IMO this right here is the reason I would wait a level....for casters, spells are the shizznit....the more the merrier.
