This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

How old are you, and how do you feel about the Starter Set lacking chargen?

Be interesting to see if the 6e edition numbers are greater than that. ;)

7e in 2024 would be the closer extension.

Voted "bothers me". The lack of char gen means I won't buy the product: whether I'm the target audience or not, I won't be buying it for myself or the kids, and that's the only metric I can use to answer the OP.

I will buy all three core books though, that's more my game.

Put the Basic rules in a box with some dice... I would certainly by that for both myself and the kids. The free PDF is of little use to me.

I've long been a veteran gamer, and so, don't give a flying flip about some introductory starter set teaching how to roleplay.  The shittiest starter set ever produced would not affect my opinion of 5e.

I started with AD&D and expect my D&D gaming to have at least a good dozen classes to coose from, so I don't give a damn about the basic game either.

5e will live or die by the three big books in my world.

Correct. That's actually the point sir. Give me the Big 3 and pick and choose if you're a DM. Me? I buy 2 of 3 and play....while picking up 2-3 books a year for you to stress over. Perfect. It's 2e again!
Don\'t mess with cats we kill wizards in one blow.;)

I am 49 and this is no problem since the documents will be available online.

I feel like I should qualify my vote - it does not bother me, but I have no intention of buying it. But I don't think I really need a starter set in my life at this point, anyway.

And I'm okay with that. I'm just looking forward to the phb.
