This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

On p.44 of the rulebook (currently only available in PDF from Green Ronin's online store), it says grenades have a short range of 4 yards and a long range of 8 yards. Is this too short?

Is that for how far you can throw them, or for how far the fragments travel? In either case, it seems really short to me (but I have never thrown a grenade IRL).

For precision throws is should be the same as a knife about 15 to 20 yards. Somewhat longer if you just lobbing it as far as you can. The book is off base by half.

Well, the difference between throwing a knife and a grenade is that a knife has to be thrown straight forward, while a grenade can be arced in the air.

Er, and you want to also hit a likely-moving person with the knife. Grenades you just want to end up near something hostile when it explodes.

If you throw a grenade 4 yards, you and your friends are likely to have a bad time, unless there's serious terrain involved (like you throw it into a meat locker and shut the door). 8 yards is also likely not far enough away (you should take cover yourself if you do that).

That's way too short.  A frag grenade's effective killing radius is 5 meters, its effective wounding radius is 15 meters, and someone with average strength should be able to throw it up to about 30 to 35 meters.

You always want to take cover or get down after throwing a frag grenade, as individual fragments can still wound or even kill well beyond the distance you can throw it.
