As an RPG player, I don't want narrative control of the game.  I want to be a character living in a fantasy world, not an author writing about it.  If we're not currently playing and the GM is asking for input on where the game is going, sure I'm happy to help.  But when we're actually playing, participating in GM/authorial decisions about the game takes my head away from where I want it to be.

I will ask the player when I feel stumped. I do it for both critical success and failure / critical failure. I don't do it all the time, but it provides good information on a player's perspective.

I don't mind Session Zero back and forth with players, but hot damn, that's the end of player input. During the campaign, all I care about is character input into game as they interact with the setting. Rules talk between games? Sure, if necessary, but even then its just clarifying my GM thoughts or deciding how to deal with something beyond the rules.

But my players already know I usually land on their side when it comes to rules issues, because they know that I run dangerous settings with bastard monsters so fast rulings and perhaps lenient rulings on "can I do this?" is balanced by learning the local moon cult is actually colliding the moon into the earth. Turns out "Luna's Kiss" wasn't just a scribbled poem on that scroll you found.
