This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Mini-six Bare Bones rule question
« on: November 22, 2022, 10:31:34 AM »
Mini-six Bare Bones is a free rules lite version of the old Star Wars D6 rules from West End Games Star Wars series.

Mini-six adds a new way to run combat called Static Defense.  Instead of an opposed roll of two characters, static defense method has everyone pre-calculate their average for Block, Parry, and Dodge and just write them down.  You also pre-calculate your toughness, called Soak, but that isn’t important to this question.

Does getting injured mean you recalculate Block, Parry, and Dodge?   Aka, lower them all by 3 for each wound you get?

Rules as Written says nothing on this, so my guess is no.  However, normal D6 rules you do lower your skill check for both offense and defense rolls.

My guess is you should decrease your defense numbers when using Static Defense method of combat.  Otherwise two fighters who are both -3D and still on their feet would end up unable to even hit each other like the old man “fight” in the movie “Up” between Ed Asner vs Kirk Douglas.
I’m glad for you if you like the top selling game of the genre.  Me, I like the road less travelled, and will be the player asking we try a game you’ve never heard of.

Since the statics are lower than an average roll, 3 points per die instead of 3.5, I don't recalculate them for injury.
(a) Never had a problem with this in play
(b) recalculating statics would be worse than just rolling
(c) not a big fan of death spirals anyway.

Interesting.

I’ll defer to you’re experience, S’mon.  I know you’ve played Mini-six a lot more than I have.
