This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Does anyone know who owns the actual FASERIP system?
Is it WOTC?
Has anyone heard of any efforts to purchase the game engine?
Does Jeff Grubb (The creator of the system) do anything with it anymore?

I have a TON of books from the old Marvel Superheroes RPG.  The TSR stuff -- pre-WOTC.  The core game, the various expansions, modules, plus lots of early Dragon Magazine articles, like the one with the adventure set during WWII.

I don't know, I suspect WOTC owns the system like it does with the entire archive of TSR designs. Since TSR mostly put people under work for hire situations. Considering the IP involved (Marvel) was strong at the time of publication, and TSR was reasonably big, I doubt that Marvel has any claim on the mechanics whatsoever.
I have heard of past efforts to buy it, and TSR/WOTC basically said no--which suggest they own it.

I've not seen anything from Jeff Grubb in years so I doubt it.

MSH is one of my top three supers games....

I just recently got a copy of MSH cheap from my FLGS and I'm looking forward to the chance to run / play it again.

Good job! If you have any rules question let me know. I'm rather fond and well versed in and even currently run a Shadow X-men game using the rules set.

FASERIP is on my short list of systems I'd like to see get the OSRIC treatment.

I picked up a set off eBay just the other week. It's the original Basic MSH not the Advanced version, but I was happy. Just got to find time to play it now ;)
