This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Might be because Matt Mercer and Matt Colville are in it, for one.

Did I miss something?

Why wouldn't Luke Gygax want comments from the fans of the 5e "luminaries"?

Is the sin that he would play with them, that he would play with them on livestream, that he would turn off comments, some or all of the above, or something else?

It's difficult to imagine why anyone would not want to see all the comments of a bunch of randos on the Internet.

Yeah it's just more professional nowadays to turn off comments because it turns into a cesspool quickly.

I know who Luke Gygax is, who the hell are the other two and why are they relevant?

Or I would say, I know who Luke Gygax is the son of.

Apart from that, I never know who any of these people are either. Colour me not very "with it".

Deborah Ann Woll was in True Blood, Marvel Dare Devil series as an actor. She has her own live stream show --> https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL7atuZxmT954B-AtfJsw_YbULHL_L7J8z&app=desktop

Mercer is famous voice actor DM on Critical Roll. Coleville is a D&D designer...

Was this originally a Facebook video or something? It has less then 50 views on YouTube.

I admire Luke in some respects. I don't think I'd be willing to DM for a guy that called my dad a racist.

If people didn't want to see comments from randos, there wouldn't be things like reddit (or therpgsite). Comments are usually the best part of any video.

I am rather wondering that as well?

It is  increasingly common now to turn off comments on vids. And Mercer & co have garnered some ire with their antics in recent years so if he was aware of that then turning off comments would be a wise move.

Referring to Mercer as either a founder or a legend is false advertising.

They used to call that "cult of personality". And to be fair. Before he was brainwashed into the woke cult, he was fairly entertaining. IF those sorts of entertainments actually entertain. Totally YMMV. Same with Collville. He orates really well and recounts adventures well. But also very YMMV.

Clearly some people want to see comments from some randos on the net. You'd be a case in point. Others...not so much. Someone turning off comments isn't unusual and should hardly be controversial.
