This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Looking for good 3rd party D&D 5e Content
« on: December 05, 2022, 02:27:09 PM »
Hello everyone, I am looking for good 3rd party content for D&D 5e. I had some luck in finding some publishers through this thread: https://www.therpgsite.com/pen-paper-roleplaying-games-rpgs-discussion/list-ttrpg-guide-to-woke-companies/
but I would like more ideas.

Preferably, I would like the books in print so I can give them for Christmas. I would also prefer non-woke companies, but I'll take what I can get.

I have lurked for awhile but never made account/posted before, so let me know if I need to format this post differently (or if there's anything else in general I should know.)

Thanks,
hajjr6

I'd highly recommend Troll Lord Games 5E products, particularly the A and C series. Troll Lord are strong supporters of veterans.

https://www.trolllord.com/tlgstore/#!/5th-Edition-Adventures/c/119494280

Also great stuff to be had from the unwoke Frog God Games. Bard's Gate and Tegel Manor are standouts.

Klytus, I'm bored. What plaything can you offer me today?

An obscure body in the S-K System, Your Majesty. The inhabitants refer to it as the planet... "Earth".

The High Moors

https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/309401/The-High-Moors-5E?

But only pdf I’m afraid.

You can do a custom binding of the PDF for under 40 pounds.

My players chose to go with the Runewild instead. (https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/309298/The-Runewild-Campaign-Setting) Session four tonight since we only play alternate weeks, and we're not out of the starting village yet because I added a lot to it. No direct read on the "wokeness" of the author, but it's full on into the "war against the hags in the wood", and all the hags are female, so we're not reskinning the myths for enemy-gender-balance.

There are a few major non-hag male foes, but there are also major non-hag female foes, including
SPOILER (Hover over section below to view.)

some classic matriarchal drow in a side quest
.

If you are looking for megadungeons go with anything by Greg Gillespie:

https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse/pub/4249/Greg-Gillespie

His products are modular, free from woke politics, and all around reminiscint of a time when the DM was not told what to do but given options on what they COULD do and left it upto them.  Have all his books and I've pulled bits and pieces out of them.

Also Scott Talyor from Art of the Genre:
https://artofthegenre.com/

Look at those covers and that will tell you all you need to know about these flexible books and their wonderful art and content.  I have ALL his Kickstarters and he's as no nonsense as it comes.

Oooh, let me shill myself real quick. I originally wrote this for BX, but did this 5E conversion around the time that edition launched.

https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/134541/ME502--The-Mines-of-Valdhum

I've ran it a handful of times in both rulesets; it converted over pretty great.

Even Bryce liked it: https://tenfootpole.org/ironspike/?p=3794

I unfortunately don't have the 5E version available in print, however.

I've been publishing 5E material for a couple of years with an old school look and feel, our pulp fantasy adventure the Doom that Came to Astreas might be up your alley. I have literally 2 physical copies left, let me know if you want one. Check us out: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse/pub/18138/Dueling-Dragon-Adventures

That cover is awesome.  How much for a physical book?
