Title: Looking for a Publisher for my Next Book
Post by: RPGPundit on October 13, 2021, 07:28:14 AM
So, I'm almost done writing the first draft of my new product, which will be a campaign-setting (Dark Albion Style) set in 3rd Crusade and along the Silk Road.

I'm talking to some of my previous publishers, but I'm open to considering going with a new publisher too. To be a contender you need to have published at least one commercial RPG product, ideally on DTRPG (though it can be other sales points too), and be willing to give my new book priority.

So, if you're a publisher and you're interested, please get in touch with me here on theRPGsite by private message. Or say so in this thread!

Are you interested in sharing anything about the new book, or is the thread just about looking for a publisher?

I can talk about it, did you have a question?

I was curious about the Silk Road part. Is that a significant part of the book, or it more focused on the Crusade? Are you covering the route and the cultures along the way in any real detail?

The larger part of the book is actually about the Silk Road. I do a detailed coverage of the entire silk road as it would have been prior to the Mongol invasion, with information on all the major cities and variant routes, as well as lots of details on the different governments and cultures present. Also, lots of stuff from local myths and legends.

Interesting, is it a fully system neutral sourcebook or are there notes for use with L&D and D&Dish games ?

Interesting. The survey of Britain was my favorite part of Dark Albion, and something similar for the Silk Road with more myths and legends is appealing. It's one of those periods/locations in history that just screams out for adventure, but which has been remarkably underserved in RPGs.

It is largely system neutral but the monsters section stats are made for OSR (specifically, Lion & Dragon), and there are a couple of new Lion & Dragon classes, and some magic items that have bonuses/powers done in OSR format. Even so, the vast majority of the book is setting, much like Dark Albion.

Hey. This is just to comment, I'm still in negotiations with a couple of companies, but I'm also still open to receiving new offers. If you're a publisher who has made at least one RPG book, you can contact me about publishing my upcoming campaign book on the Crusades and the Silk Road.

Im no longer in publishing. But what is the current projected page count?

Colour or BW art inside? I assume BW.

These are the two big factors after soft or hardbound. Hardbound usually jacks the cost up quite a bit.

Well, the word file is 150 pages or so. Which means that the final version is going to be bigger than that.

Things like color or BW, hardcover or softcover or both, these are the kind of things I negotiate with a potential publisher. So I'm open to hearing pitches from publishers about how they would want to handle the product.
