This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

If you don't like d6-d6, you can use 4dF, or 2d6-7, or any of a number of other options.  I even created a set of rules for using a deck of playing cards with FATE.

Very keen on this game, despite not really being all that excited about the FATE mechanics....but then I haven't checked out Starblazers yet, so maybe I should take a look at that, too.

Any word on if this book can be used with (as in, is designed in a manner conducive to) one's own campaigns, or is it primarly written around the comics it is based on? I haven't found a published fantasy setting in decades now that appealed enough for me to ditch my own homebrews. Nonetheless, the preview looks sweet.

Also, since the devs are on here, anyone have a timeline on the print edition? I'm going to hold out for that.

Hi Camazotz!

You can *absolutely*, *categorically* use it with your own campaigns - in fact that's what it was designed for. :)  The two settings in the book are explicitly "sample settings" - we also think they're *good* settings if you want either an Elric-style swords and sorcery setting or a D&Desque, Tolkienesque high fantasy setting to run out of the box with little or no prep, but all along Legends of Anglerre has been designed as "the FATE fantasy RPG" in the same way Starblazer was "the FATE scifi RPG".  I've used it for Glorantha, and am planning on having a bash with Tekumel too - it's intentionally a very flexible rules set which we're hoping people will make their own and use with their own favourite campaigns :)

The print copy should be out late in the month or early June - we're still hoping we can make UK Games Expo in Birmingham on the 4-6 June, but can't absolutely confirm that.  It'll be around then though.

Incidentally (and please forgive the blatant sell) the Cubicle 7 webstore still has its preorder offer running, which is the hard-copy + free PDF bundle.  We have warehouses in the UK and in the States for shipping copies as soon as they arrive, and the PDF download code is emailed to you straight away as that's available now.  IMHO it's a good deal, specially if you're planning on getting the hard-copy anyway :-)

Cheers,

Sarah
