This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Melan on September 15, 2021, 04:03:57 PMAm I to understand that you can now rent a stand at GenCon, then get thrown out (without a refund?) due to an Internet-based hate campaign?

Yes. GenCon controls GenCon. Much like Master Blaster and Bartertown in Mad Max, and yes GenCon can be dealt with the same way.

Quote from: Melan on September 15, 2021, 04:03:57 PMHow is that not breach of contract?

Probably not because I've heard from multiple vendors over the years how draconian the GenCon vendor agreements have become because they know how GenCon can make or break a game company.

Quote from: Melan on September 15, 2021, 04:03:57 PMHow can you do business with GenCon after one similar event?

Anyone who does business with GenCon either supports the SJW bullshit (and imagines they can't ever be cancelled), or is just trying to sell games and hopes they don't get cancelled. Both are just playing roulette.

Quote from: Melan on September 15, 2021, 04:03:57 PMWould you invest your time and money in participating?

Fuck no.

Bergren is apparently still a a member of GAMA, as is his associate Jon Del-Arroz, a writer known for having made some controversial statements. This was discovered recently, and GAMA has suspended both men for 28 days, pending review and discussions with legal:

Here is the tweet that, according to GAMA, constitutes "Hate speech and bullying"

Okay, I'm not doing the guilt by association here okay?

Back in the #ComicsGate days Vox Day and Jon del Arroz tried to insert themselves and co-opt the thing, we nerds kicked them both out.

Why? You might ask. Well, for those of you who haven't had the pleasure of dealing with Vox Day he's a honest go God member of the Alt-Right, and (unless he has denounced them?) so was Jon del Arroz. Arguing with the latter about why I didn't want anything to do with them I told him I was too white for the SJWs and not white enough for the Alt-Right. Jon told me they did consider me to be white.

Pay close attention, he didn't deny his association with them, he told me the Alt-Right considered me to be white.

So Jon hasn't made some controversial statements, he is (or was) a full on white supremacist.

This doesn't make whoever associates with him one too.

That's all I have to say about this subject.

Here is why this forum tends to be so stupid. Many people here think Joe Biden is "The Left", when he is actually Far Right and every US republican is just an idiot.

Or JDA just doesn't play the "If you don't denounce whoever I tell you to denounce then you support them 100%" bullshit. JDA has said dozens of times that while he and Vox are business partners and personal friends, they don't share the same political positions. I mean, that used the be the norm but now it is verboten.

Also, Worldcon called JDA a "racist" and JDA sued them for defamation. Worldcon ended up issuing an apology and paying him damages.

Of course, the SJWs have learned their lesson and now use totally subjective terms like "bullying" and "harassing" to ban people.

FingerRod

Hmmm...wonder why GAMA deleted their twitter account only a couple hours later? My bet is it is totally unrelated.

What part of JdA was trying to recruit me for the Alt-Right you didn't understand?

If he no longer shares those beliefs fine with me, redemption is a thing.

No, it wasn't because Vox was his publisher, but you already knew all of that and are just being disingenuos.

I could be mistaken here, but the frog thing may just be heresay.

I am not denying people got angry about the frog but am saying that gencon may have other issues with Jeff. One issue that's been pointed out was him taking pictures of himself in The GenCon space setting up without a mask, which is against their policy.

Again I'm not entirely sure and I'm not here to say anyone is wrong as much as point out that there is a bit more to the story than just the frog.

BGG was bitching about another game for the same reason at least a month ago. How Wacist! the frog is. Oh Noes!

Yeah. Nobody knows about how Pepe the frog was appropriated by conservative and white nationalist groups to troll the internet. Why would anyone mistake a Pepe the frog cartoon as conservative anti-woke symbol? Such a HUGE mystery. Man, these people are truly over-reacting... [/sarcasm]

Two the OK symbol was a 4chan troll and you all fell for it.
Three by your logic anything that has been used/liked by ethnonationalists should never be used by anyone else even in the most remote likeness.

Hitler liked dogs and was a vegetarian. Now go pester dog owners and vegetarians for their nazi association...

You have to remember that Trench here proports to be a "good SJW" but at every turn shows himself to be anything but and is usually at the forefront of defending whatever the fuck hallucinations his fellow cult member have proclaimed today.

The OK hand signal comes from SCUBA diving so divers could nonverbally and visually at a distance in compromised visibility quickly indicate that were alright and their equipment was functioning as expected,  that they had enough air to continue the dive, etc.

Off topic but it is also one of the basic sign language gestures. For W.

I'm very much aware of trechiron's ways.
