This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The setting does sound excellent, though. I'm getting hints of Iain M. Banks, Frank Herbert, Larry Niven and Vernor Vinge. D6 has never been a system I've been particularly fond of, but I may check it out all the same.

Quote from: joewolzI am not spending $50 on a game for which I don't have the system, either.

Just to clarily the system is infused in the book, it isn't just a setting.

I don't get what on earth (or beyond) it's about!

Quote from: RPGPunditI'm not sure its either... "Overhyped fad" might be the more likely explanation.

Note: Not SF RPGs in general, just the crop that have shown up lately, I mean. The point being that there's already RPGs to fill pretty well every Niche of SF roleplay.  Not saying there couldn't be any new games for this genre, but its likely most of these games will be nothing but blips on the radar.

overhyped fad?

Wha?

Then I stand corrected, and may give it a chance when I can look through the book.

I was thinking about taking a look at this right up until I saw the price tag.

$50 is over my limit for RPG books.  Especially new, unknown games that I'd likely not end up playing.
Now Prepping: One-shot adventures for Coriolis, RuneQuest (classic), Numenera, 7th Sea 2nd edition, and Adventures in Middle-Earth.

Recently Ended: Palladium Fantasy - Warlords of the Wastelands: A fantasy campaign beginning in the Baalgor Wastelands, where characters emerge from the oppressive kingdom of the giants. Read about it here.

More like last patch of green grass in an overcrowded field, I'm thinking.

Well, the last non-generic, non-SW D6 sci-fi game sucked big time, IMHO.

I love Bill Coffin's work, but here I have to agree with the esteemed Megaversal Criticâ„¢:  $50 is a lot of jack for a guy on a reduced gaming budget.

When it hits my FLGS I will take a look at it.

But I will echo the comment made by others about the price.  It is pretty pricey and the game would have to be something amazing for me to pay that much for it.

I will, however look at it and give it the benefit of the doubt.
