This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Is there any game that wouldn't be improved by the addition of Johnny Cash

Can anyone think of any game that couldn't be improved by the addition of the original Man in Black?

If it´s a good game, it´ll be a perfect match.

If it´s a bad match, it must be a bad game.

could easily see "The Man in Black" as an Unknown Armies archetype...a wandering minstrel who foretells of the angry wrath of one diety or another. (the "spiritual CNN of Country Music", as it were...)

If Johnny Cash doesn't improve your game - and Mr. Cash has covered a wide variety of music - then you're playing wrong.

He improved The Simpsons, he can improve damn near anything else.

I almost wrote "except mecha games" until the image of Johnny, staring balefully down on me from a glittering robotic space dragon, entered my brain and kicked its ass.

So what games could we add johnny cash to?

I suppose he could be in THS as an eidolon, hell they more or less did that with elvis and man, as far as I'm concerned elvis wasn't fit to polish johnny cash's boots. (STFU, elvis fhans, no one wants to hear from you. Go fuck your cousins and make more inbreds.)

I suppose he could be in Rifts, depending on the time period.

Call of cthulhu in the cthulhu now time, sure.

I cannot think of such a game.

No.

Zachary The First

Indeed not.

"God's Gonna Cut You Down" is on the soundtrack for my Rifts game.  I'm a big Cash fan, anyways.

Better than "unearthed", with introes to the songs, he tells why they are important to him.

Poor old Johnny. Barely cold in his grave and already a gamer icon....

Huh?

What´s it with this "gamer" poison?
Why the hate?

What is a gamer, anyhow?

I know I could be asking for you to stretch the limits of realism, but it is possible, no matter how astronomically small, that someone, say me for example, is old enough to have been a listener of Johnny Cash, even before said person touched a RPG in their life.

Impossible...I know.

Carry on.

Not at all, my good man. Any particular person may have been a fan since childhood. It just seems that one day he's a singer and the next he's an urban legend.

I've never been a big fan myself. Some good songs, some really shitty ones.

Would you agree that most people posting here will identify as a 'gamer'?

Anyway, it's an observation without rancour, directed mainly at the urge to fetishize a real person. Man in Black – ooo, I think I'm getting wet.
