This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Honestly I like these limited run series. I wasn't aware that Promeathean was only five books - good to hear. I remember when TSR annouced that it's AQ setting would be a limited run, although they did go over the supposed number, all the products were pretty good IMO...not that that fewer books means quality products but rather I prefer to have just the right amount of tools to work with.

Quote from: GrimGentAnd so does Orpheus, especially as a single campaign will run through all the books in a similar fashion.

Orpheus is just beautiful and really shows how awesome a "get in get out" approach can be from a major publisher.

I'm also in the "give me short runs" camp.  I usually want more than just a core book, but not a whole lot more.

In Scion, you play the child of a God and fight in thier name.

It's a pretty simple premise and the game delivers.

I prefer the "all in one book" approach, but there's nothing wrong with limited runs, either... CtL may well end up being the only nWoD line I'll ever buy, and once the third book of Scion has been released it should be easy enouch to check whether the game does something that Nob doesn't, especially setting-wise. (The way it handles Fate is a nice touch, admittedly.)

The comedy part of all this for me is, a long time ago I found this great fanbook for WoD that was all about playing modern gods, but I couldn't get anyone to play it.

Tart it up with Exalted style over-the-top powergaming, and suddenly the masses eat this shit up like candy.

Well honestly some of us just have had bad touch experiences with netbooks and thus shy away from them no matter what kick-ass idea it might have to offer.

I don't know about Exalted style over-the-top powergaming. Yes, there are some pretty nice synergies (and The Helpful Spirit boon badly needs clarifications or a rewrite) but nothing close to the headaches of an Invincible Sword Princess or a high level D&D cleric.

Call me crazy, but I think he was remarking on the presence of k3wl p0w3rz, not any bookkeeping issues arising from them.

On RF's advice, I downloaded the game demo.  It's safely in my "don't buy" column.

Bleh. There's nothing wrong with cool powers. I mean, D&D was built around the acquisition of cool powers and it beat the competition so bad it ain't funny.

People want what they want.  If they want a WW game about modern takes on heathen gods that doesn't involve shoehorning Exalted's Bulgarian goatfuck of a system into the modern day, they won't want Scion.

Is obviously.

I perfectly understand that. It's not like I'm stuffing a copy of Scion down his throat and saying "Please intake volume!"

Well, I'd say that judging a work sight unseen just because of where and how it was published is more than a tad silly.

Here's my website. It's defunct, but there's gaming stuff on it. Much of it's missing. Sorry.

I've got a blog. Do you read other people's blogs? I dunno. You can say hi if you want, though, I don't mind company. It's not all gaming, though; you run the risk of running into my RL shit.
