This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Ghost Whistler;415462How would that work if the Genestone isn't portable?

The main component of the genestone is part of a geological formation maybe. This would go well with the lodestone idea aspect.
"Meh."

Ghost Whistler

Perhaps its a fragment of the beating heart of the world. The greatest of all treasures, an Agarthan Crystal stored in the halls of the Imperial School Alchemy (medical wing). The crystal is kept within an alchemical solution that reacts to the preence of the Crystal creating a solution whose medical properties are the greatest ever seen.
"Ghost Whistler" is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). Parental death, alien battles and annihilated worlds.

It was all a mistake

It could be like Uranium or any other radioactive element or isotope. Rather than damaging radiation however it radiates a restorative field. In order to receive the benefit, you must remain within a certain distance of it for however long is necessary to heal your ailment and/or restore your health and vigor. It could be some unique element unknown elsewhere in the world that came to earth in a meteorite. The hunt is on for other fragments of the meteorite (which off course fell in deepest darkest Congo).

However every now and then, when used, the Genestone inextricably causes the user to age rapidly and die an excruciating death (Sudden Death Syndrome). To date no known cause for this rare, but extremely distressing effect has been found, so use of the Genestone is not without a certain degree of trepidation.

There is however a Professor Malahide of Oxford University who claims he has found out the reason why SDS occurs. After his initial announcement he disappeared. It is rumoured the Secret Intelligence Service of the British Empire and agents for several foreign powers are seeking his whereabouts and the secret of his research so as to weaponise the Genestone.

A weapon that could rapidly age the enemy would be a fearsome weapon indeed.

Secrets of the Genestone
It was found, quite by accident, that when a dead body is placed with the Genestone for about 24hrs the corpse is reanimated. The reanimated corpse has no intelligence but tends to form a bond with the first person who gives it instructions (which it will carry out literally!!). While secret research carries on into this phenomenon, this fact has been kept from the public, for obvious reasons. Though rumours abound of so called 'Zombie Cults' in the Congo and have been widely reported in the press.

Because of these effects use of the Genestone has been kept to a minimum and the relic itself kept in a specially designed vault in London.

Thats what sprang to my mind.

Simlasa

I like that bit about reanimating the dead... and factions fighting over it based on different possible applications. It begins to take on a sinister air...
