This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: redd;640227I'm wanting to know if any of you have done anything similar.

Sure, do this all the time.

There is generally one primary GM, and others will spin off their own sub-arcs in the setting. There's a number of advantages to it.

And some downsides, it's best done by people who are friends and on the same page style wise.

I prefer multiple campaigns/milieus with the same characters.

I've used an "Adventurers' Aid Society" (inspired by Travellers "Travellers Aid Society) and a Spaceport as conceits to accommodate it.

I like the emergent feel that you PC isn't a puppet dancing in the DMs world, but a free man. If you don't dig a DMs game, you can sod off and keep your PC. Freedom.
Yeah, but who gives a fuck? You? Jibba?

Well congrats. No one else gives a shit, so your arguments are a waste of breath.

I never would have consider it from that PoV.

Is this a gaming club or a private group causes you to view it in such a way?

Quote from: cnath.rm;641409I ran into some of those issues in a group I was with for a few years, each DM would run their adventure, then pass the DM duties to the next person, but keeping the same chars. One of the player/DM's was wanting to toss in some rather crazy stuff.  He more or less stepped back out of the rotation, leaving them to deal with me, and with one of the best DM's at whose table I've had the pleasure to sit. :)

I can handle crazy stuff to a point; I think my problem is not having complete creative freedom. Not to be confused with control; I don't care about being in charge.

If I prefer elves to be immortal, and flavor a setting with that in mind, I don't really want a co-gm insisting the elves have a human lifespan. Just bugs me.

Pretty much; I don't play online but players from our circle have via Flailsnails.

I don't play online either, but that setup seems particularly sensible for people who do, I'd say it vastly improves the chances of people being able to play regularly, at least.
