This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Will they finally stop being anal about stopping people from automating their incredibly cumbersome system?

Clearly you're not familiar with D&D. ;)

But--hey!--I kinda like the system and have for years. Then again, I like generic systems and prefer to tweak those than use a "designed"/dedicated system.

I think they eased up on that the last several years. Today there's GCS/GCA for making characters and VTT's like Foundry have rulesets and can import from those systems.

She's been playing GURPS for years, and helps run a miniature paint company called TurboDork. She was on "What the Flick!" a movie review show on the TYT network.  The paint company moved to Austin, Texas so she was already in SJG's home city.

Really? Huh, okay. The TurboDork color shifting stuff is nice, not going to throw any shade on the paint.

I do not know or GAF about What the Flick.

I kinda feel this way about the entire thread.

A girl got made a CEO and there needs to be some shenanigans about it? Nah.

You miss the point.  It's not about the girl.  It's about the report of a sudden end for two high-ranking members of the staff.  And if you make it about the girl, it's not even about her being a girl...  Amazing it has to be stated: No one cares about her gender or has an issue with it.  It's an observation about her politics in relationship to a pattern of political extremism that came out of the company lately.

Beyond the absolute misunderstanding of what "gender" is, I'm kinda just pointing my post and wondering about everything.

Kinda sounds like you're bringing the politics in here?

There has been a lot of people creating confusion about gender that didn't exist in the past, so I do not fault you for misunderstanding.  To clarify: Gender is a synonym for sex (n)., one's innate biological nature, determined by the presence (male) or absence (female) of Y chromosomes.

Political observation is permitted here if directly related to the topic of gaming.

I don't care much about politics and who the CEO is. SJG hasn't produced the kind of GURPS stuff I want in many years. If they allowed third parties to produce adventures it would probably boost GURPS sales. They don't really support the rule set with much since they have been putting all of their effort into munchkin sets. So unless this shakeup results in more GURPS products that I want my reaction is meh.
Quote from: JonWakeGamers, as a whole, are much like primitive cavemen when confronted with a new game. Rather than \'oh, neat, what\'s this do?\', the reaction is to decide if it\'s a sex hole, then hit it with a rock.

Someone show me some sales number of SJG in the last 2-3 years. Let's compare that with figures from 5 years before Steve went straight to the left of Stalin and started contributing to BLM.

a CEO has 6 months to turn the ship around if it's floundering using the "It was the old regime..." excuse.  After 6 months you don't get that excuse anymore and it's all on your shoulders.

All i see in the market is less SJG products and more SJG crowing about social issues which don't increase sales at all.

This year, they reported a loss, "for tax reasons".

They are lucky they have munchkin boosting profit.

With Gurps Vehicles 4E no longer be worked on. Or any major releases beyond some PDFs coupled with their attitude of " at least no one list their jobs". The company would be in the same situation as Hero Games  if not worse.

It's great no one was fired or let go. Losing profit should have them worried not acting at least in the link as if it's nothing. Only cutrentceile rpgs company act as if profit is meaningless.

SJG have always been amazingly open about their sales figures and direction.

People who didn't know they were woke weren't reading Pyramid back in the day.

From my perspective as a GURPS fan, things have really hit rock bottom and can only improve at this point.

Don't underestimate how much lower it can and will go. MAPs and beastiality are next on the "human rights" the Woke will (and are) championing for. It is going to get much, much, more perverted, sick, and darker before it hits rock bottom and society rebels. This isn't the first time in history where decadence has consumed a culture.
