SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

The Indie RPG Awards for games released in 2014 have been announced:

The OSR has had more of a showing this year, with Blueholme Prentice Rules tying for 2nd place for Game of the Year, and Deep Carbon Observatory winning for Supplement of the Year.

If I click on any of the links to the left (home, game of the year, supplement of the year, etc.), it asks for a userid and a password.

So incredibly Indie that nobody can see them!

Ugh!  My apologies.  The password was supposed to be for just prior to announcement to test that the listings were working prior to announcement, but they were messed up.

They are fixed now, and you can see the full awards at:

Yes, there are plenty of other awards that count for more - but I think it's interesting to see what a bunch of indie designers find interesting among the work of their peers.

I've got a copy of The Clay That Woke from the Kickstarter -- maybe I'll look it over more closely.

It's a good read. Really evocative, really alien. I like it a lot.

We haven't played it yet, though. Our gaming venue is a public cafe and the crater of lots doesn't really fit well with that setting. Although maybe I'm being too shy.

Yup. Although that definition still cuts out a lot of RPG content, as many RPG books are written by contracted authors who submit manuscripts to the game company, and then have no input over what happens until the end result rolls out.
