Greetings!

What kind of magical mirrors have you included in your campaigns?

I have a player in the group that recently gained an enchanted mirror. So far, I have only figured out that the magical mirror speaks, has a definite personality, and possesses some kinds of mystical knowledge. What other powers or abilities might the magical mirror have? The player that has come into possession of this magical mirror is a Wizard.

  • Scrying - another name for mirror is looking glass so you use it to look at far away people, places, or things.

  • Acts as a door to another place or time, plane, world, etc.

  • Like the portrait of Dorian Grey - so aging, damage, spell effects don't effect the owner, but do show up on their reflection. But if the mirror breaks all the accumulated years, damage, etc., hits them all at once.

  • Detection - the reflection in the mirror reveals things e.g., their true shape, their alignment, strong personality traits, deity worshipped (if a devotee), any spells affecting the target or magic items that they carry, their power, level, class, etc.
