This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Is there such a thing as tactical social combat?

Yep, extremely cool stuff.  I like using a story to move between areas, it's a fantastic idea.

Followed the link... I don't play or ref the Spirit of the Century game.
Going just by the concept in the thjread title alone, couldn't a dance combined with a Dinner banquet be an appropriate field of battle  for tactical social combat ?
Think about the "dance-off" seen in some cheezy movies

   -OR-

The "Shindig" episode of the Firefly Tv series.
I'd say some tactical social combat happened there.

This is what a really cool FANTASY RPG should be like :

That was one of the things that makes it so interesting to me.  So many possible variations.
What I'm not so sure about is the example.
Should each map be specific, as in the example, or is a more generic pattern, that can be filled in as needed, possible?
Would the concept work for game systems other than Fate based or does it's resolution system make it practical only for those systems?
