Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). A-fucking-men!

Volcifar from L2: Bone Hill was so cool that even after the party realized he was a bad guy, we let him stay on with the group. Eventually, one of the players took him on as his own PC. Zert and Turuko from T1 (a big dumb fighter and a kunf-fu monk) were added to another party after they were found out as bad guys. In this case it was more pity for such lame villains than wanting to keep them around because they were cool. Also from T1 was the tailor who was a badass with crossbows and daggers. We named him Zachary Tailor and he stayed with the group for a LONG time.

I was also a big fan of the Mad Hermit (our druid ended up with the puma as his pet), Markessa and the smart ogre from A2, the dissident Drow from D3 (five of them joined our group, but only one survived) and a charmed ogre (also from T1) we named Mongo.
Jesus Fucking Christ, is this guy honestly that goddamned stupid? He can\'t understand the plot of a Star Wars film? We\'re not talking about "Rashomon" here, for fuck\'s sake. The plot is as linear as they come. If anything, the film tries too hard to fill in all the gaps. This guy must be a flaming retard.  --Mike Wong on Red Letter Moron\'s review of The Phantom Menace

Mike the Mage

Nasty dwarf enslaved and then employed by a giant, IIRC.

Quote from: RPGPundit;1038368That is to say, an NPC that has appeared in a printed setting or module/adventure, whether it be from Greyhawk, Mystara, the Realms, or anywhere else that is D&D?

My favorites are probably Eclavadra (from G3/D3), Lord Robilar (RJK's PC), and Evard (whom I've tweaked into a drow).

LOL.

Quote from: Mike the Mage;1038403Murlynd.

Around since the very begining.

Is a wizard and a cowboy and a paladin.

Had wands shaped like pistols.

Was the PC of Don Kaye, a friend of Gary Gygax.

Don Kaye passed away in the mid/late 70s, and Gary included Murlynd into the campaign, blending the PC and a little of Don as a tribute to his friend.

just awesome.

Rob Kuntz is working on his homage to Murlynd again, Merlynd's Castle.  Should have more news on that front soon.

Quote from: JeremyR;1038535Markessa the very evil elf from A2

She was definitely the coolest of the Slave Lords, and has been the subject of several Gary Con tournaments in recent year (written and run by kraftwerk from Canonfire!).

Lich? Yes! Dismembered? Yes! Demigod? Yes! Tried to break all of reality? Yes!

Acerarak ain't got nuthin' on Vecna!

Gotta agree there ;)  I was less interested in Vecna when he was converted into a demigod during the 3.x era vs. simply being an "arch-lich" although the emphasis on secrets in his portfolio was somewhat interesting.

Quote from: Madprofessor;1039763Ostler Gundigoot of the Inn of the Welcome Wench from T1
Rufus and Berne from the same module.
The mad Hermit from B2.

Gygax did a great job making memorable NPCs, even from seemingly throw-away types encountered in dungeons as prisoners, etc.

A good one, and a recurring villain from the original Lake Geneva Greyhawk campaigns! :D

Lots of love for Greyhawk NPCs here in the thread! :D
