This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I'm not even sure I like RPGs anymore ....

Skews the probabilitys out of shape. Youd have to retool the combat system to take into account the bell curve that a 2d10 instead of a 1d20 puts on results. This becomes a real mess at the higher requirements as you are going to miss alot more without something to counter that.

Played AD&D campaign with it back in the day just because the DM didn't like the swingy D20. We all rolled lots of 11s. I remember the fighters and the thief being happy with the results, but nobody else. Static bonuses felt more important like that +1 sword or that +4 backstab. Unsurprisingly, that DM was happier playing GURPS Fantasy.

Say fucking what?!

Quote from: JMiskimen;1144715Seems like everything I like, most others despise and vice versa. While that may not be a deal-breaker for most of you .... It really makes it hard to find a table to game with.

For instance, I hate the OSR. It's a group of so-called 'writers' or 'creatives' who are just rephrasing the works of better men and trying desperately to make a buck on it. They are not innovative, nor are they any kind of genius.

See what I mean?

You haven't read any of my OSR games.

Seriously, it sounds like the only OSR books you've seen, if indeed you've read any, are 1st-wave clone games. Anyways, there's no way anyone who wasn't a goddamn liar could claim that Lion & Dragon is "not innovative" in the sense of doing something different than what the AD&D 1e rulebook does.

Quote from: Wiseblood;1144811Maybe you don't like RPG's anymore. I've wondered that about myself from time to time. If you did like RPG's, what would they be like?

This is my first post....here. I lurked for a time then took a break and returned (took a left turn and) mistook RPG . Net for this place and "I was like WTF? Where is the RPG Pundit? He had some sense." ( I began to question my own sanity. "Is this some Mandella effect shit here? If there is such a thing.")

Hello! Glad you found this place now!

Quote from: JMiskimen;1144837Obvious Troll here again, just to round off my post count at a nice even deuce and point out that I am NOT a new user ... been here since 2008. Also, calling out certain personas online-  in that, you too, like myself - are NOT who you maintain to be. Believe what you read? Bottom Line. Whatever sells.

I never said you were new here. I said "I am new here." It's a forum. I am inclined to "believe" what I read here. (to a certain extent.) It's almost like you've misread something in my post and made some connection that I just don't see.

It's almost as if it were intentional. It's almost as if there's a word for that ...
Old School? Back in my day we just called it "School."
