This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I don't think I made it through a year (though it's a little hard to remember that far back now) before I tried a second game. The pattern since trying that second game, which I think was Gamma World, has always been to try new games. At last count I think I was over 60 different rpgs that I could remember, and that's with certain games grouped (e.g. all World of Darkness variants counted together as only 1 rpg played).
Humans should have been assigned a wisdom penalty.

Played Amber Diceless for 4 years pretty much every week. Kult every other week for two years.

Ran L5R 1st edition for about 2 years, played BESM for 1.5 years.

After that, it is a maelstrom of systems and campaigns as my gaming horizons continue to expand.

I like long campaigns, but some of my players prefer shorter campaign commitments and trying out new systems every few months.
Running:
Dungeon Crawl Classics (influences: Elric vs. Mythos, Darkest Dungeon, Castlevania).
DCC In Space!
Star Wars with homemade ruleset (Roll&Keep type system).

Basic / Expert / Companion / Masters / Inmortals D&D since 1985 to 1988. The I discovered RQ and COC (they were translated here). Since then I'm a slut.

A similar experience, we started playing D&D BECMI, then we dropped it and play another game, only I can't remember if it was MERP or RQ.

I started with RuneQuest II in 1981. Changed to RuneQuest III in 1984 and have played that almost exclusively until 2000.
On the way I dabbled in the other Chaosium stable of games such as Call of Cthulhu, StormBringer, RingWorld, ElfQuest, Thieves' World, etc. but we did mainly play RuneQuest.

Now I mainly play HeroQuest though I am reading PenDragon at the moment so you could say I mainly worship at the RPG Church of Greg Stafford!

We played a lot of AD&D in the early days, but within the first year or two we were playing Traveller, CoC (I owned 1e), Ruinquest, champions, and every RPG TSR made at that time. I can't really remember what was played when; it was pretty much always the same guys (after my initial two months or so) until I escaped form high school.

When you started gaming, it was obviously with something. I've noticed that some people started out with one RPG, but very quickly dived into a whole variety of games quickly, but others stuck to a single game for quite a while before diversifying.  What kind were you?

Well my Current group has been playing Star Wars D6 (Mixing the Star Wars
D6 R&E Book and D6 Space) for 5 months and it looks like we will be playing it for a little while longer.

Though I am preping to run a Torg R&E game shortly, so we may be changing up soon

The former, as far as my beginnings are concerned.

I was introduced to RPGs via AD&D and the Temple of Elemental Evil. After a few months, the DM offered me the Dark Eye RPG for Christmas. I ran games for some time with it, then came back to D&D via Mentzer.

It's only later that I chose to stick to one particular RPG. It was Stormbringer, for two/three years. Then I ran Vampire The Masquerade with a single campaign/chronicle for eight years. Longest running campaign I've run.

The OGL period is apart, I think, since I stuck to 3rd ed the whole time (and still do) but happily played, ran and mixed stuff up when it came to the miriads of OGL variants out there.

For me it was AD&D 2nd Ed. Played that for about 4 years, I think, before we found a copy of TMNT and Boot Hill.
