This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

How have you used dragon parts in recipes?
« on: September 21, 2020, 11:44:40 AM »
Found this interesting article on mythology/folklore that you guys might find useful: https://mythenthusiast.wordpress.com/2019/03/05/the-uses-of-dragon-parts-in-mythology-and-folklore/

I found the implication that the immortal eastern dragons shed their brains every so often to be surreal, but if the immortal hydra can regrow its heads doubled then it's not all that unusual I guess.

Have you used dragon parts in recipes, remedies, forging, etc? How did that work out?

Come now Box? Using the body parts of other persecuted minorities in your campaigns? I mean many of the weaker dragons are BLACK! Don’t Black Dragon Lives matter?  ;D

Or are dragons sufficiently ‘othered’ that even you don’t see hunting them down in their homes to steal their wealth and conquer their territories as some form of racial persecution?

Seriously, you whine and complain about ‘othering’ orcs, but then post about murdering  using sapient creatures’ to use their body parts? And then wonder why people don’t take you seriously.

Immortal dragons cannot be killed. We harvest their castoff parts, as they shed themselves not unlike snakes and lizards do. They bring rain and good luck. We petition them for stuff. (With the notable exception of Hydra. Who is currently trapped under a rock for all eternity after Hercules ended her reign of terror.)

Those mortal dragons that everybody takes notice of are invasive species that destroy every environment they visit. They lay waste to kingdoms, kidnap princesses to rape, steal ridiculous amounts of precious materials to hoard, devour all our livestock, incinerate all our fields, signal the apocalypse, etc. They basically earned being hunted by dragon slayers.

Those mortal dragons that people don't live in fear of aren't the ones we hunt. We have no quarrel with those.

The kingdom of Prestor John raises dragons for riding and other resources (harvested humanely, of course, we're not psychopaths). It's pretty cool to ride dragons. Just don't ask what they use for tempering weapons and armor. Trust me, just don't.

I am orc. I find your statements deeply racist. Just because some orc empires invaded this continent five hundred years ago, largely exterminated the native inhabitants, imported millions of slaves from another continent, etc doesn't mean that orcs as a race are evil. What, do you support fascist organizations like #HumanLivesMatter too?

...kidnap princesses to rape...

A scurrilous libel sir!  Dragon/human intercourse is well, It Just Wouldn't Be Fitting, as it were.  It is a biological oddity that we require hymeneal blood as part of our reproductive cycle, but we use our tongues.  So when someone asks "Have you ever eaten a maiden?" and we say "Well, of course," We mean it in the French sense!
Sincerely,
A. Dragon
Seriously, in one of my campaigns, I have a very useful spell that calls for a virgin sacrifice.  It doesn't mean exactly what a casual reader would assume...
As far as dragon parts go, it is more likely in my campaign that someone using dragonhide armor would call down blood vengeance.

I'm pretty sure General Tsao's Chicken is really dragon testicles.
That's my two cents anyway. Carry on, crawler.
