This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I often think "Need" is a word that most gamers should drop out of our vocabulary.  None of us 'need' any new games.  But C&C is a fun little game with a lot of potential.

Danger

Ah, but my friend, when it comes to C&C, the sheer cross-compatibility with it and the whole host of D&D, AD&D, 3rd ed. D&D items already in existence really makes it shine!

Think of the utility of it all; the (gasp!) practicality of the game begs you to buy it.
I start from his boots and work my way up. It takes a good half a roll to encompass his jolly round belly alone. Soon, Father Christmas is completely wrapped in clingfilm. It is not quite so good as wrapping Roy but it is enjoyable nonetheless and is certainly a feather in my cap.

If you are happy with old Basic D&D or new 3.5...no.

Quote from: jdrakehI'm not sure that it was an argument. Rather, I think it was simply a statment. He (and his players) didn't much care for C&C. Why does that have to be an argument? Wait. . . wait. . . it's because this is the internet, isn't it ;)

Yeah, it was just a statement really.  :)  I don't remember the details but I think my comment about the cleric vs. assassin Listening was due to the fact that the cleric could not even make such an attempt.  I mean, trained killer or not, if someone has ears he should be able to listen for something.

To elaborate a little more on general terms, C&C just didn't bring to the table what my group is used to (i.e. tactical combat).  I even recall one player griping that he couldn't take a swing at a goblin as it moved past him (AoO being missed at the table?  I never thought it would happen!).  C&C is a great throwback to the gaming of yesteryear and I'd probably try it again given the right circumstances (hardcore 1e players and DM).

OK, wait, that sounded like a dis on C&C, and it wasn't supposed to be...I just meant that it is pretty much another edition of D&D by a different name.  If you are already happy and content with another version of D&D you probably don't need this one.

If you aren't happy with your current FRPG of choice, and you want AD&D 1st edition with all the stupid rules pulled out and a D20 core mechanic...then yes, you do need another FRPG.

I am, I do, and sounds good!

EDIT:  Oh, and from Dictionary.com:

Quoteargument

I meant that one.

Dr Rotwang!

Okay.  I ordered it at my Friendly Local last night.  I even recruited players from work.

And now...I wait.
