Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

is it just my computer, or does the chaosium web address not work anymore?  i get some sort of birth classes site when i go to http://www.chaosium.com

example:
A Change to The Doula School

The Doula School will not be offering Birth and Postpartum Doula Trainings for the time being. Treesa Mclean, the founder and director of The Doula School is currently studying to become a Certified Professional (CPM) Midwife, Liscened Midwife (LM). As such she is enrolled in the Midwives College of Utah and is working with Rosanna Davis CPM, LM.

Treesa is looking forward to offering on-going professional education to Doulas, childbirth educators, and other birth professionals in the form of advanced workshops and individual mentoring.

is this some sort of code?  does nyarlathotep teach at the doula school?  :raise:   :what:

"Doula" sounds kind of Lovecraftian, in a way.

doesn't it?  i'd poke around the site more, but be afraid of finding a "whateley" in there somewhere. . . . :eek:

ColonelHardisson

Weird. I was able to get to the online store via Google, though.

4e definitely has an Old School feel. If you disagree, cool. I won\'t throw any hyperbole out to prove the point.

beeber

true, colonel!  thanks for the tip.  i think maybe they've changed their site address to http://catalog.chaosium.com/ now?  i'll change my bookmark.

beeber

so of course i have to stumble around in there.  and i discover. . . this!

Worlds Beyond presents a flexible and comprehensive character generation system. Four diverse species and eight different occupations enable players to create an endless variety of adventurers. The fast-paced combat system provides for realistic, exciting, and potentially-deadly encounters.
Included are:

    * Over 20 inhabited worlds, history and culture on each.
    * Star system generation
    * A comprehensive buyer's guide of tech items
    * Personal weapons, body armor, vac-armor
    * Optional hit location rules
    * Detailed starship deck plans and construction rules
    * Space combat and weaponry
    * Robot/Android creation rules
    * A scenario to start your journey!

These are the last remaining copies from the 1989 first (and only) printing, straight from the printer's carton.

sounds like future world!

The same thing happened on Chaosium's web site a while back. Apparently they share a server with the Doula folks, or something like that, so it's most likely some maintenance gone wrong.

come to think of it, you're right.  i wasn't sure if i had already experienced such a thing, or just wrote it off as a drunken hallucination.

since the catalog link still works okay, i just changed it to that in the appropriate folder.  of course, now i'm intrigued about this "worlds beyond" book, especially with spacequest back-burner'ed.

It might be viral marketing for Chaosium's upcoming Doula: the Birthing.
