This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I think I´ve read somwhere about a dicedropping method used to make Traveller worldmaps, but I cant find it now.
Maybe my old mind plays tricks on me. I´m sure I´ve seen something like that for generating dungeons and cities.
If anybody knows about anything like that I´d like to know.
I´ve been teaching Traveller to my friends kids and now they are busy worldbuilding, and really enjoys doing it without computeraid. When it comes to maps I have to confess I use Heaven & Earth or just make a sketch of any map (a country, Island or even coffestains), trying to keep the hydro% roughly correct (counting hexes).

There's one in T5 but better still, travellermap.com automates it.

The MegaTraveller World Builder's Handbook has a chapter on the topic, starting on page 87, but it's not dice-drop based.  It's a series of "there are X tectonic plates, Y continents, and Z oceans" with rolls to determine the size of each thing and tips on how they interact, but ultimately leaving it up to you to decide on shape, placement, etc.

Thanks!
I´m aware of those. I was looking for something the kids would like.
Yesterday they told me they´re making their own dicedropping system, and also a few adventures, and ships, and aliens, and..and..and.
So I guess they´re good.
