SPECIAL NOTICE
Malicious code was found on the site, which has been removed, but would have been able to access files and the database, revealing email addresses, posts, and encoded passwords (which would need to be decoded). However, there is no direct evidence that any such activity occurred. REGARDLESS, BE SURE TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS. And as is good practice, remember to never use the same password on more than one site. While performing housekeeping, we also decided to upgrade the forums.
This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Have you gamed with a first-year gamer this year?

Yes. I had someone who never has played any RPG before in my Western-Marches-knock-off of an FtA! campaign.

"Role-playing as a hobby always has been (and probably always will be) the demesne of the idle intellectual, as roleplaying requires several of the traits possesed by those with too much time and too much wasted potential."

A great RPG blog (not my own)

Quote from: RPGPundit;345962A simple question: How many of you have actually gamed at least one session in the past year with someone who had less than one year's experience in RPGs?

Note: YOUR CHILDREN (or other family) DON'T COUNT.

There's a 26-year-old who hasn't gamed before in the campaign I'm playing in right now, in fact.

Add one to my tally -- my old fogey LFR player who hadn't played since 1st edition finally convinced his non-gamer wife to come watch. About five minutes into the roleplay she said she did want a pregen after all, and had a blast for the rest of the adventure.
