Hey all, as a long-time player of WFRP 2e and backer of the Zweihander kickstarter, I have read through most of the Early Access Rules and grasped most of them, but I am unsure of how the system actually compares to its predecessor. Anyone here who has substantial experience playing/testing/GMing it?
Hi!
There is a weekly session over at Obsidian Portal: https://troubleinthemoot.obsidianportal.com/adventure-log
There's also a great 24 page thread of sell me/unsell me ZWEIHÄNDER Grim & Perilous RPG (http://warhammerfantasyroleplay.com) at the Big Purple: https://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?787145-Sell-Me-Unsell-Me-Zweihander-Kickstarter
In addition, if you speak Russian, there is a weekly game being televised on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCw2nTpJ5a2h9iM8OW2RBU4w/videos
There's also a review from one of our playtesters (who later became our playtest lead) on this site: http://www.therpgsite.com/showthread.php?34722-ZWEIH%C4NDER-Grim-amp-Perilous-RPG-GRIMDARK-Beta-review
I clicked on the thread link thinking "Gee, if Zweihander hasn't played, that game is as dead as it gets!"

Our playerbase generally sticks to The BigPurple & Strike To Stun: http://forum.strike-to-stun.net/viewforum.php?f=23
Site metadata - including link trackbacks - don't show much referral traffic from TheRPGSite whatsoever.
People here are probably more into arguing about old games than buying and playing new ones.

Either, that, or the game hasn't been released yet.
You know...whichever.
The early access core rules are on Drivethrurpg for pay what you want. (http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/192264/ZWEIHNDER-Grim--Perilous-RPG-Early-Access-Core-Rules) Over 600 pages.
600 pages! for core rules? Sorry, I don't have time to read that much, and I know my players won't either. Zweihander sounds like a game I might actually enjoy, I was a big fan of WHFRPG 1e. But I don't currently have a group that would be enjoyable to play it with. So I haven't taken the plunge.
It sounds pretty good though.
Well the actual core rules are about 40 pages, character creation is about 50 pages. The rest are character careers and skills, magic spells etc up to about page 300 something. The rest is campaign and setting materials, bestiary, magic items, etc.

This.
In WFRP, you needed to buy core WFRP core book, Career Compendium, Realms of Sorcery, Tome of Salvation and Tome of Corruption to get all the spells, careers and cool stuff. With ZWEI, you only need one book.
We have scoped out our next supplement, which will include vehicle combat, reaches deeper into Daemonic lore and add in additional careers we wanted to put into the main book (but became far too dense).
I am firmly 'anti-splat' book, and this will reflect in our future release schedule.
We got an ETA on the hardbound?

The Indesign, pre-print files will be in my hands on Thursday.
The illustrated PDF will go out to backers in March, while I'll be printing early proofs for my internal playtesters to review. We'd be looking at a two-three week period to catch any errors and fix any layout oddities. Following this, we'll make final corrections, immediately resend the updated illustrated version PDF to backers, and begin shipping the printed version.
So close to being done!

If we catch errors in the illustrated pdf, what's the preferred method of posting them?

There are individual stickied chapter entries here. I'll post more information once we get a bit closer to release to help guide everyone.

I am looking forward to the HC, but I don't do PDFs so I haven't played it yet. Can't help you there.
I know there are a lot of WFRP 1 and 2 fans on this site, but I think a lot of them don't see the need in a new edition. If it ain't broke and all that.
I think a list that clearly pointed out the differences would be useful to some. Such a list probably exists somewhere.
Personally, I enjoy WFRP 2 as a system greatly, but often feel that it is too closely bound to the setting. I like the old world, its a great setting, but it is also quite specific and therefore constrained. I am hoping that ZH is slightly more generic and adaptable. We'll soon find out.

Hi there,
There's a massive Sell Me/Unsell Me on
ZWEIHÄNDER thread over at the big purple. It has a pretty good breakdown of the differences between ZWEIHÄNDER and WFRP: https://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?787145-Sell-Me-Unsell-Me-Zweihander-Kickstarter (https://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?787145-Sell-Me-Unsell-Me-Zweihander-Kickstarter)
