Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). Goodman games has become woken trash

I post this very first post as a place to vent on how stupid things have gotten with a company that I genuinely loved the products to.

Goodman games, has lost the plot.
At first I really didn't want to believe it. They make good products, the game system is solid, there's so many modules that I admittedly love. Here I am at a breaking point.
It really started with the new DCC print that's about to hit kickstarter. I actually don't mind the nongendered language. on it's own and in a vacuum, it doesn't effect me at all. In fact, I like the new alt cover.

I am annoyed at best that the whole "Look how progressive we are" that was trudged out when Crypt of the devil lich was supposed to arrive in November, and is still commissioning out artwork and finishing art direction according to the KS. Judge's guild Volume 2 is late. Dungeon Denizens was announced a year ago and we've got nothing on it. DCC#100 is vaporware I think. Then there's DCC Xcrawl which has been drip fed a release every couple of years since 2015, culminating in a Beta release of rules a year ago.
Empire of the east 5e has "And be sure to check back over the next several days as we bring you more news from Gen Con 2019!" at the end.

So making what would have been a non-issue change to a book for a ninth(?) printing and gearing up for asking for more money while 4(?) Kickstarters are floating in the air and declaring a Success over it is just asinine. Yes, I know things are hard with a paper shortage, but if it's so bad then don't announce another upcoming kickstarter.

Then I saw the Dungeoncon Policies from April.

And it's woke garbage and they aren't getting another dime from me at this rate. like we're getting this focus on safe spaces and harassment policies. The company that put out a module with a troll cutting people in half with a chainsaw want "Family Friendly Content. All games run within our community should avoid excessive gore, violence, or sexual content. Of course, these are fantasy games, so a certain amount of combat against fantasy monsters is unavoidable. Such combat should be dealt with in a family-friendly format, and never become offensive." at their own online convention.

So that's off my chest at least

Welcome!

Be sure to check out the TTRPG Guide and associated thread, as a way to help yourself and others avoid such consternation.
Old School? Back in my day we just called it "School."

Welcome!

Yeah, what the hell indeed. I knew they were going woke but I didn't know Goodperson games was that careless about their kickstarters and that dismissive of their core audience. When they declare that violence is apparently regrettable but unavoidable in a fantasy RPG, they have certainly lost the plot.

And certainly the focus on cleansing their language is costing them time and money they could be using to, you know, actually fulfill their projects.

Seems to be a common formula these days: Build your business with the deplorables and then toss them to the woke wolves as soon as you get popular. Little do they know, the wolves will come for them sooner or later.
The worms crawl in and the worms crawl out
The ones that crawl in are lean and thin
The ones that crawl out are fat and stout
Your eyes fall in and your teeth fall out
Your brains come tumbling down your snout
Be merry my friends
Be merry

Welcome!!!

Yes; it's a darn shame to see such a good family of RPG product creators, start frantically face bobbing on the Woke Schlongs of so called social justice warriors.

This one hurts because DCC seemed to be one of the paragons of OSR. A game with unique takes on a system that could have been stale or the usual "here are the exact permutation of the same rule sets I like". I was eyeballing it for a while. Glad I didn't give them any money.

I finally bought a copy of the DCC core book a couple of years ago, and it was gonzo as hell.  Just marvelously different from everything else.  I didn't expect to see their recent nose dive, to start gobbling the Schlongs of the SJW crowd.  What the hell is up with that?

Doesn't Pundit's co-host Jobe write stuff for them? How "woken" can they really be? Jesus, you nerds are jumping at shadows.

Either they got successful enough to push their politics or saw a dip in sales and bowed down to the Woke overlords infesting the hobby in the hope it would help them.

Regardless it is sad to see.

He quit writing for them several years ago. On the recent 'Inappropriate Characters' episode dedicated to Goodperson Games going woke, Jobe spoke about how left-leaning the inner circles of the company and Spellburn podcast were. I remember when Jobe left GG, he was in the middle of writing the Dying Earth conversion. I don't know if he ever disclosed why he stopped writing for them though.

Where goes D&D, those trying to cash into their customer-base will follow to some degree.

It's also that this mindset is just becoming unchallenged in the corporate world.  The bigger the company the more likely to go this way.

Just stay away from radicalized democrats. Don't give them another dime. Big Government is subsidizing them anyway, so they won't go broke. But one can hope.
