This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Goodman Games - Dark Tower - Literally Hitler
« on: March 31, 2021, 12:39:43 PM »
From Tenkar https://www.tenkarstavern.com/2021/03/goodman-games-acquires-dark-tower-from.html

So, it begs the question - how much were Bob Bledsaw and Judges Guild paid for the rights to Dark Tower? Is that money being earmarked for the floundering CSIO Kickstarter, or is it going to be spent on hookers and blow - or some other such nonsense?

I have no idea what this is all about, but at a cursory glance (and knowing something about Jaquays), this just seems like someone got pissed off that their IP was owned by some old man who doesn't particularly care for trannies.

Ironically, the "literally Hitler" comment now applies to lining people up who don't drink the leftist Kool-Aid and loading them into the cattle cars. Clown world indeed.
It takes considerable knowledge just to realize the extent of your own ignorance.

Bob did some pretty intense boomer posting on facebook which is what got JG products removed from GG.

Yeah, when I read that, my first response was, no, it does not beg a question. It is nobody’s fucking business. People begging for that answer are only in search of their next outrage. Those IPs were around decades before BBJ’s meltdown.

But hey, we can´t enjoy things anymore, we have to eviscerate any medium nowadays in the hopes to get our outrage out on some fucking social media platform.

These Judges Guild products weren't even all that good back when they were released. I don't see why anyone would want yet another sanitized version of a old, sub-par module.

Ah, I thought you were talking about the good Dark Tower.
So i never got the chance to read, play or run the adventure. But is it really that bad? I always thought that the stuff Judges Guild put out was resonated well with players and GM´s alike.

Yeah that was my feeling - not GG's business or concern what Bledsaw #X does with the cash from selling the IP. And I doubt the #LiterallyHitler Bledsaws have any bridges to burn from failing to re-invest the sale cash in their long-dead CSIO Kickstarter.

I dont have any opinion about the Judges Guild adventure called Dark Tower.

Its just not the Dark Tower that I think of when seeing Dark Tower.

It does sort of beg the question.  Some of us(CSIO BACKERS) have been waiting and repeatedly promised movement on producing the book.  So if they(JG) got money then if they want to keep their promises it has to go to CSIO.

Caverns of Thracia by the same author is a classic and excellent dungeon crawl, Dark Tower isn't quite as good but it's still a great example of Old School design. My sons had a whole lot of fun being run through both of them.

It is indeed the business of the backers whose pledges were not fulfilled by the JG CSIO KS. That said, I doubt that any of the KS backers will see any of that Dark Tower money. And I come to that conclusion because the Bobs were douchey/incompetent enough to squander the KS funds and I see nothing indicative of that being any different now. The "BBJ meltdown" just adds insult to injury.

Now that I agree with. While it would nice if GG decided to be the savior of the CSIO KS, they are not obligated to do so. And given their (IMHO, well-earned -- YMMV) pariah status, the Bobs have no incentive, and I doubt any inclination, to fulfill their KS commitment.
