This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

That I missed.

Sorry, it was the Exalted thread;).
Quote from: Iron_Rain;883822Yeah but to be fair, Trollman read enough to figure out that the game uses fucking THAC0 - one of the worst pieces of RPG design ever - IMO - outside of anal circumference from FATAL.

Or - lets get this straight you're a godbound you start with HP= 8 + con modifier, but heavy weapons do 1d10+str or dex.

I'm two pages in and mechanically I'm already deeply skeptical of how "heroic" and "epic" in scope this game is. Maybe the fluff of the game is, but I fail to see how something obviously mechanically borked by page 13 is going to get better.

Oh look - page 16 - these worthless and low stats only matter when demigods fight an appropriate demigod level threat. Great - so when I combat happens "that matters", I can still be dead in two rounds - fantastic!

Page 18 - attribute checks: 21 - the attribute score. If I've learned anything over the years - subtraction should be used as little as possible.

No - this is just some useless retroclone heartbreaker.

Anyone who's QQing that the guys at tgdmb aren't groveling over how amazing this game is has their up their ass at the awful game design used here. And yes, I'll conceed that the setting may indeed be awesome. I don't care.

I am pretty sure that's the exact same guy :P

Edit; Actually nevermind, the guy on RPG.net was a lot less snide about the whole thing.

Yeah with the delux book in hand I am updating my house rules and characters.  Made Aslaugs interesting again and yes you can go for common mortal.  Basiclly aslaugs get a bonus fact from his/her husband's/wife's words.  This could be a magical item of great power, lesser sorcery archmastery, or lesser strife mastery.

The godbound also gains a bonus fact from the wife/husband.  Now it isn't as powerful as what the godbound can bring.  Especially when the benefits come from common mortals.  Now heroic mortals can offer more, but never as much as a godbound.  The only benefit is that godbounds can have many husbands/wives.  Up to ten common mortals, five heroic mortals, or a mixture.

Okay making a custom setting for godbound.  Here is Spine.

Sorry for the thread necromancery, but letting you know we now have character sheets.  Kevin should send you a email about it.  More important is the fact that Godbound might be release in mid July which is much earlier than I expected it.  I thought release date would be in the fall.  Speedy work Kevin so congrats on that.

IIRC, Kevin has a track record of finishing projects well before the originally declared deadline. He is a Mensch.
Obvious troll is obvious. RIP, Bill.

The character sheets look pretty sweet.

Spinachcat

Deeply impressed by all the rough draft goodies.

I just glanced over it, but from what I saw it ticked all three boxes on what I look for with characters sheets: clear and easy to use, no spelling errors, and everything fits on one page. It's sad how many character sheets I've seen fail at least one of those.

Snowman0147

The proofs just came out today.  Now we got to check for any errors and such.  Still the PDF looks complete and the art is amazing.  A few pics look like something out of dark souls.

Just got it, looks sweet.

I'm running it in 10 days. Players have come up with a Vissian rake, a Toban smith and a penitent knight of yet uncertain nationality, plus two PCs pending. Still wondering whether to set it in dreary, haunted Raktia, the sun-scorched and inbred Oasis States, or demon-wracked, mad Ancalia.

Is it a Skype game?  I might go a Bright Republic exiled criminal mastermind.

Face to face, I'm afraid. But hey, if you ever find yourself in these tropical latitudes, let me know and we'll save you a seat.

Love the character, BTW. Totally stealing it.

Snowman0147

Well if your gonna steal I say go with Health, Command, and Knowledge.  Strange word combo for a criminal mastermind, but there is a reason for it.

Ever heard of Osmossis Jones?  While the movie suck it had one redeeming quality which is the villain Thrax.  He is a cool calculating killing machine that took over the crime syndicate within days by killing the leaders personally.  Seconds after that got the criminals working for him despite seeing those murders.

So yeah a cool calculating criminal that uses disease as his weapon of choice.  Mainly because the character that inspired this PC/NPC is a virus.
