On TBP you have mods making sure everybody plays nice and nobody gets upset*.  And since everything is offensive to someone, everybody has to tread lightly (hence things like "no bugs as an avatar" discussions).  It's a "Safe Space" forum, and I say that without jest, since that's a label they have given themselves in the recent past.

On this forum the assumption is you take care of you.  This is part of that "adult swim" people talk about**, because you're a grown up and if something upsets you it's up to you to handle it.  Whether that means ignoring something, or blocking users, or just leaving, is up to you to figure out.  This forum has a single paragraph for rules, and the mods (all three of them?) follow it to the exclusion of personal petty bullshit.  

(*that the mod staff on TBP act more like a clique that abuses rules as they see fit, rather than an impartial mod staff who obey the same rules they enforce, is a whole -other- problem.  And honestly, it's probably the -bigger- problem with the site.)

Yes, as said before, this site does not 'not welcome' anyone (except someone who isn't a gamer at all and is coming here only to talk politics or something like that).

It's funny though, some people still don't seem to get that. I routinely get people reporting posts that come nowhere near a rules breach, and are just someone saying something moderately insulting, often not even to the specific person doing the reporting.

I'll note that more often than not, these are 'right wing' posters reporting on 'left wing' posters, which I find absurd.

As a relatively recent member who went on hiatus and came back....  It makes sense.

I think people who've been at TBP long enough get the image that this place is a stronghold for "Alt-Right types".  Then they get here and realize... yep, there's some real asshats here.  And some decent folks too, and the only -meaningful- difference between here and TBP is that anybody can say anything they want and a mod here won't give a shit*.  

(*correction: there -are- rules for these forums.  But considering they take up a paragraph and are basically common-sense, simple things, they make TBP's public and backstage rules discussions look positively byzantine in comparison.  And that's before you consider all the problems with TBP's moderation itself)

Hmm, I've just got a short ban from the other place, my crime: suggesting that someone who has a problem with the in character behaviour of another player should either talk to the player about it or live with it. "Put up or shut up" as I said it. That and being opposed to X-Cards.

I just expect people to put on their big boy/girl pants and deal with problems instead of hiding behind cards.
