This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I've never seen Treasure of the Sierra Madre, but it seems to be one of the major inspirations for Traveller.  "You're washed up on some forgotten port with enough money for one drink, one meal, OR one night at a flophouse - pick your choice:  Then some loon shows up looking for a few tough men who figure they can't eat morals..."

Also, while we're at it...
"You're the captain (and crew) of a scow.  You've been hired to get a VIP to a location on the other side of hostile space..."
"You live on an occupied planet and an old contact shows up trying to get out of the Red Zone..."
"You're living from day to day, when a group of treacherous cut throats show up with what they claim is the map to a fabulous lost treasure..."

Somebody really likes Bogart.
