You are probably thinking about the island of Krace from Children of the Sun.

As luck would have it, Fantasiapelit is selling this one at a discount till the end of the month: the copy I ordered a while back should arrive in a day or two (along with Army of Darkness RPG and a few other bits and pieces). Apparently the worst thing about it is the title, which is supposedly in the "word salad" tradition of naming anime and manga.

You also think that the Maid RPG doesn't have creepy pedophilia references...

Hey, at least I read through games so that I'll know what the deal is instead of leaping to wild conclusions about their contents...

...Which brings us right back to PE: that aforementioned order arrived today. A quick glance through the book reveals no fanservice, skimpy outfits or suggestive poses, not in the (sparse) illustrations nor described in the text. One picture, in the brief bestiary of twenty monsters from Japanese folklore, does include tentacles, but they don't seem to be engaged in anything particularly naughty. The actual play seems to revolve heavily around popularity contests and high school politics, along with battling against "Demons", a general term for a scenario's main challenge which can be range from natural disasters to global conspiracies. In short, it's just what the cover says: "a psychic schoolgirl adventure game."

Once again I'm reminded that I'm not a fan of systems based on several different types of dice, though.

Quote from: Melan;362502Panty Explosion. Yes, that's a real game.

Named by a woman, from two elements of the movie genre that inspired the game. Fan service and exploding heads. Not that that helps. :P

Wasn't a big fan of the voting mechanic but chargen and basic task resolution had some interesting ideas esp. for school settings. Blood type, Zodiac, Elements, Best Friend / Rival and so forth.

The freebie is essentially rules complete but skimps on stuff like examples and more context. The only mention of actual sexual content is in the discussion of real life Japanese schools, nothing non-textbooky that I remember and I don't think the Japanese school system section is in the freebie. The company's reuse and Photoshop filtering of screencaps and such was a bit meh but they are representative of the genre and could've been far worse. Has a notebook form factor but the doodles, while a nice idea I suppose were a bit twee and weeaboo in execution. Found it at a Half Price Books, later sold it back. The freebie has the rules concepts I found interesting though the book's extra examples helped grok it.

IIRC I was thinking of using parts of it with other rules for X-Men meets Akira-like psychic emergence school, Harry Potter in all but name or Dying Earth / Tekumel wizard's school ideas.

Quote from: Ian Absentia;362483You know, I'm still amazed that some art director thought that cover was a good idea.

Sometimes when you hire a bigname artist, you just accept whatever they give you. That's how Transhuman Space wound up with Christopher Shy art that didn't resemble the concept art at all nor fit the setting tone or description well. OTOH it didn't have cameltoe+11. YMMV.

Comparing that PDF to the full version, it includes most of the material from the first three chapters and "4.2: Creating Scenes", but leaves out everything related to Agendas or Traits. "5.2: Self-Injury, Abuse and Bullying" from the later setting section (the last third of the book) does mention molestation, but only in two paragraphs about Japanese statistics and social conventions.

Wizards.  Wizards (the RPG based on the Bakshi movie from...what, '76, '77?) is another good full tits out RPG.

Srsly, quit srsing up my thread.

Damn.  Someone else owns that?  As I recall, lechery is a drawback :)

Clearly they didn't vet it by Ralph Bakshi before they released it then.

And no I don't own a copy.  I wish I did, but I don't.  Do you know how impossible it is to find on ebay when your search has to be "wizards role playing game"?

Part of what amazes me is that the artist managed to skew and exaggerate the perspective so much that, not only are we treated to a bulging pudenda front-and-center, we're somehow treated simultaneously to an exploration of the figure's ass-crack.  I'm still not sure what's holding her shoulders on -- they seem to have gotten shifted off her body to keep them out of the way of her tits.

Nice observation about Shy's work in THS (and, to be frank, just about every other game where I've seen his work).  Interesting, but hardly appropriate.

!i!

RPGPundit

Its true. My real issue isn't that its trying to sell sex; I'm all for that. Its that the artist is clearly just not very good at it.
