This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Games Workshop to "cleanup" their back catalog.

"Games Workshop — the owner of Warhammer brand — noted that Liber Chaotica, originally released in 2006 contains content that is inconsistent with the company's values now, almost 20 years later.

Therefore, Liber Chaotica cannot be published in Polish in the known form, and there will probably be no reprints of this position in the English-language version."

So... this just the Liber Chaotica, they're not specific why... but you know, tits. I expect the old-school Warhammer is sunsetting into the maw of the Chaos God- Cipherus, It that Reduces All to Zero.

Liber Chaotica will be the first, not the last, to disappear so they can appease people who are never satisfied and who, more often than not, were never going to and never have bought a GW product.

Don't like Warhammer, but this is pretty bad. Hopefully Games Workshop goes under and explodes.

Every time I think about getting into Warhammer, GW does something to dissuade me.  This is one of those times.

I wish I thought the "plucky child character miniature" was a joke.

After the disastrous management of Starcraft and Warcraft by the idiots at Activision Blizzard, Warhammer Fantasy and 40k were basically the only other IP in town if you were interested in anything vaguely similar. But I haven't really been interested since the mid 2000s, so this doesn't really affect me.

I did have some ideas for my own strategy game setting inspired by it tho. Space cowboys fighting space bugs while space elf angel robot things watch from afar. That sort of thing. Making an RTS is far beyond my skillset, but I might be able to do a tabletop board game or something. Altho I have no idea how one would even go about making one.

The notion of an exclusionary and hostile RPG community is a fever dream of zealots who view all social dynamics through a narrow keyhole of structural oppression.

So GW is also embracing Corporate Cancer then...

They say that it's just Liber Chaotica "for now".

But Corporate Cancer is malignant in the extreme...

Amusingly GW's rise to power came as a result of being transgessive when D&D was trying to be family friendly.

How can the possibly reconcile wokeness with IP that is centered around an eternal racial/religious war?  They might as well just close up shop.

They don't have to...

Because cognitive dissonance is one of the defining features of the woke mindset.

Why cancel a translation over a few pieces of art? If you really can't publish a few tits, then remove or alter those images. Translation is expensive and normal business practices would have the Polish translators still getting paid for work done.

Same goes for an offensive passage of text or even a chapter or two. Alter or remove.

Canceling a whole book means that the work is so entangled with "problematic" elements that it can't be salvaged.

Liber Chaotica hasn't even been available for years. Announcing that they're not reprinting a book that was never reprinted for over a decade is a hollow statement
