How would you run Bloodshadows?

As it is vaguely topical again, I ask the question, what would you do with a Bloodshadows campaign?

Other than the default private detective and treasure hunter set-ups, what kind of adventures and parties would you go for? Would you play up the magi-tech aspect or tone it down; go for Lovecraftian horror or treat run it as a black comedy?

I wanted a world a bit like Garrett from Glen Cook--I'd allowed travel between the cities and let it be not common but possible. I'd focused a bit more on investigation in a fantastic world. That's just the way I'd roll--somewhat comedy, somewhat detective (classic) novel.
