Notes
   Born on (planet name) on the day of 264-1092 to a strange combination of parents. His father was a gifted psionics instructor, working in secret, the majority of the time coming and going at all hours without notice. His mother worked for a legitimate shipping company, travelling  to all parts of the Spinward Marches delivering her cargo.
    At the age of 12, just when Galic was beginning to understand the nature, and consequences, of his father's work, the institute where his father was employed, was raided ny 3rd Imperium forces. That night, his father didn't come home. And since, he has not seen him But Galic knows he is still alive. Nightmares plague the hours of his sleep, visions of his father imprisoned. He has sworn a vow to find his father and free him, no matter what the cost.
       One month after his father's disappearance, Galic's mother returned from her shipping assignment to find him alone and depressed. She quickly collected up their belonging and left (*insert planet name*) being for good.
      Three years later, Galic had become quite a talented individual. Picking up languages and cultures as they traveled. In addition, networking with other shippers and smugglers and hacking into Imperium databases at every chance in a desperate attempt to find his father, who still plagues his dreams.
      Then it happened again. On a seemingly innocent cargo run, pirates attack their ship. Unbeknownst to Galic, his mother was a smuggler, and a good one, and the pirates wanted her cargo enough to kill for it. And they did. After critically damaging their ship, the pirates boarded and killed everyone, except Galic, who managed to sneak aboard the pirate's ship unnoticed.
      After being discovered among the pirates, the only thing that saved Galic from being killed on sight was his fluency in several useful languages and his extensive network of contacts.


 This player is "NEW" to both GURPS and the TRAVELLER universe - but he came up with that background story on his own after reading through some of my books.

The GURPS stats make my ears bleed, but I like the text your player came up with.  If you're starting in District 268 as indicated in your other thread, then I recommend Strouden in Lunion as a candidate for homeworld.  It's big enough to have an Institute, not so far away that he couldn't go back if he wanted, but not a particularly glamorous place.  And not canon-heavy as far as I know.

 This player is VERY creative and he  is kind of new to around-the-table roleplaying....but he is turning out to be pretty darn good at it .
