This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

First Crusade RPG Resources?

I am running a First Crusade game and am looking for RPG material and write ups based on that? Subsequent crusade material can still be useful, but I'm most curious about the First Crusade.

In addition, the players are going to get a large potential Domain (the city of Damascus, and yes, very ahistorical results) and any good politics/Kingdom management RPG material suggestions would be great too!

Also, if anyone is aware of how the Medieval Muslims raised armies in the middle east would be neat.

Thank you!

Ah, so you have a book coming out for the crusades in a few months?

As for the history, yes  I know historically the 3rd crusade had an attack on Damascus. My PC's are in the first crusade, and have helped it be even more successful (in alternate history forums it's a called "A Wank") and have recruited and made alliances with Robert of Normandy and Bohemond of Taranto to split the army after the wildly successful brief seige of Antioch. (Yes, I know historically it was a grind. The players cheated.)

I'm just curious about other RPG's systems and takes on the period. Jerusalem by Night is an oWoD supplement with lots of info about Jerusalem I can use. Maybe there's some OSR book out there about Antioch or Damascus for all I know, hence why I'm asking.

Also don't ask me how, but searching for an Exalted book led to this "Seventh Seal" RPG of Biblical Horror. Who knew?

I don't know of OSR resources. It's been a long time, but I had gotten a lot of mileage out of GURPS historical books - in this case GURPS Arabian Nights. I've used them for any system. The GURPS book isn't just about arabian fantasy fiction - it's got a fair bit of history and overview of the region including the crusades.

I had a few adventures set in the Crusades in an old time-skipping game I did in the 90s.

I don't know of any OSR resources. Check out Deus Vult (ironically not about the Crusades)

Used to own it. If I recall correctly, the PCs played as humans in service to one of four archangels. Think it used a d6 pool. Very late 90's design.

HR7 The Crusades Campaign for AD&D 2E was a supplement that dealt with it. Currently, you can either pay $10 for a PDF, or try to track down a physical copy. Don't know how good it is. You'll have to find some reviews if you are interested.

Wrath of God

What system you play, and how you apply supernatural element to game?
"Never compromise. Not even in the face of Armageddon."

"And I will strike down upon thee
With great vengeance and furious anger"

"Molti Nemici, Molto Onore"

I am currently using  Ars Magica 5e, using "Mythic Europe", which assumes some magic, faeries, demons and angels etc running around in the background.  The PCs are wizards secretly interfering with the 1st Crusade to make it more effective with less loss of life and faster wins.
