This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Aberrant Rules Question - Aggravated Damage
« on: June 07, 2006, 11:58:33 AM »
Anyone played or playing Aberrant that has dealt with Aggravated Damage?

2 problems.
1.  A mega stamina enhancement costing 5 exp that lets you soak aggravated damage with your lethal soak.
Problem - aggravated damage dice pools are around 5-15.
Lethal soaks of over 30 are casual.  So once you take this enhancement you are immune.

2.  Invulnerability - The base power if fine.  The problem occurs when you look at the extras they list as possible.  They list broad groups where you can gain 6 soak to all energy or all physical.  Invulnerability applies to bashing, lethal, and aggravated damage.  Exp point for exp point Invulnerability with a broad group is one of the best ways to improve your soak.

I've restricted Invulnerability so that they can't take the broad groups because its just too abusable.

I would like to allow the mega stamina enhancement but I can't let it provide soak at a 1 for 1 or it makes you categorically immune to the most powerful of aggravated damage.

I was thinking of letting it provide soak at a 1:3 ration.  You get a 1 aggravated soak for each 3 lethal soak.

Does this seem reasonable?

Looks fine on paper.  Can you let us know how it works?

Sure, but I don't use Aggravated Damage on the players very often, so it may be a while.

Why don't we do some test combats within the team? It might be a fun exercise for a couple of the team members. ;)

Let me think about that.
