I don't know all that much about the setting because trying to read the rules portions of the book (1st.Ed.) nearly fried my brain. I hadn't had a nose bleed like that since trying to create a character for Dangerous Journeys.

So yeah, I'm with you on the system mechanics. But I can't really comment on the setting itself.

that's how i got sucked in. i thought i was purchasing a bronze-age superheroic fantasy game and instead i got... whatever exalted really is.

Exalted is a game much like Violence or Elfs that is more about insulting a certain segment of the fan base than actually making a fun game.

I imagine the authors think they're really clever and snicker to each other often in the offices, and eve at each other when it comes to some of the "true believers" they've recruited over the years, but for the rest of us who actually want a game to play and not a joke, it's of limited utility.

They might have enjoyed their greatness, but I don't think they were trying to be funny.

Can anyone tell me more about Exalted? I've read a little bit about it, and the "cool kids" on rpgnet seem to get a fondue in their shorts over it, but I haven't been able to figure out why. What's the deal with this game? :confused:
