This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

Quote from: Their WebsiteOur ZAON game is in its mid stages of beta testing now as we incorporate loads of feedback. Please take a moment to read a little about ZAON, below. If all goes well, we plan to release sometime in 2008.

Anyone know anything else?  I mean, it all looks so devastatingly good, but...it's been doing that for about 4 years now.  I know the dudes have day jobs, so that explains delays and stuff.  Anyone know anything else, though?

Nope. I recall them posting some art and getting negative feedback about damage tracks over on RPGnet. But hadn't heard about them in a long time. Assumed it died in the shell.

Wow, I thought they'd moved on to graphic design or something.

Looking over their forum, it seems they're still hashing out the game system (a post from 3 weeks ago is still wondering how to divvy up skills and treat them in the game, and as of May they only had step 1 of chargen finalized).  Seems a long way from the middle stages of beta testing...
For fuck\'s sake, these are games, people.

And no one gives a fuck about your ignore list.

I last visited the website early this year. The ships looked nice. Then I saw the character sheet.

I swiped their map to put into my computer's memory - something that beautiful should see use at some point; I just don't know when or how yet.

I liked the look of their character sheet, in the sense that I thought the overall design of it was pretty cool...but it looked way too complex for my tastes.

Aside from that, I don't really know much about it at all.

The art looks good but the character sheet looked too fiddly - 10 abilities, a huge number of skills, most of which came off of 2 abilities and a damage track with around 100 boxes. It looks like it's going in lots of different directions at once but central theme to draw people in.

It reminds me of movies that were helmed by CGI people who didn't think they needed script writers - pretty but not really doing anything.

On the map page, it mentions the store opening on 8/24/07 - maybe I'll look back in a couple of days.

They used to post a free download of their game-in-progress. I downloaded it and prinited it out. In its infancy, the game was huge. I don't know if they editted it down or not. It is a sci-fi RPG and what I read, I liked. I'll dig it up, look it over, and post a few observations here later.
