This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

I also like the game.
I just don´t emote to the "shocking truth" behind the Mythos.

See we played Fungi from Yuggoth, and there were some heavy emotional moments. For example when I had to kill the pauly-thing down the well.
Gross, creepy and insanity-inducing.
But when we flew to the moon (Bad Moon Rising) and found out all about the Elder Gods, all those emotions became meaningless. The whole game became meaningless.
That´s why I think the nihilism should stay out of the game.

Keep in mind that Settie is still young and existentially inexperienced. He is still hopelessly optimistic. :D

Settembrini, don't worry; one day you'll understand when I say that Neitzchke suffered from pathological cheeriness. :p

Yes, but I'm old, jaded and cynical, and I still don't see what the fuss is about.

You keep saying that, but I wonder what you are aiming at.

One becomes depressive when one gets older?
Mid-life crisis brings new meaning to a lot of stuff?

I also wonder, what you mean by inexperienced. Maybe I don´t really want to know.

Yes, you have to "make yourself believe it" as in imagine it to be true. You imagination doesn't bend that way. Not yet, maybe not ever. If you want to get it then I suggest trying by first going back to "How do you describe the indescribable" for a few years. Because nobody here is going to convince you of squat if you don't want it.  That's just how people are built. At their disposal they've got this wonderful coping mechanisim called 'denial'.

Oh, and on the subject of the thread I got a response on my 3 pitch options to the 'soon' group. It is looking like a couple of investigators (one ex-Yardie, not sure on the other yet as a second person has asked to join in the fray) in a Victorian London/Europe setting with aliens way in the background and direct contact with them very unlikely. A bit of a gentle mashup with gothic horror elements too. That widening of the theme a smidgen might help by working as a lulling distraction so they aren't looking so hard for "cultist".

I'm glad I won't be doing the two games similar, the other group is definately into a higher alien profile.
