This is a site for discussing roleplaying games. Have fun doing so, but there is one major rule: do not discuss political issues that aren't directly and uniquely related to the subject of the thread and about gaming. While this site is dedicated to free speech, the following will not be tolerated: devolving a thread into unrelated political discussion, sockpuppeting (using multiple and/or bogus accounts), disrupting topics without contributing to them, and posting images that could get someone fired in the workplace (an external link is OK, but clearly mark it as Not Safe For Work, or NSFW). If you receive a warning, please take it seriously and either move on to another topic or steer the discussion back to its original RPG-related theme.

If it is then at least he's changed his tactics around a bit. I argued this stuff with him back when the XPH first came out. People debated whether the Blue goblin should be LA +0 or LA +1. A major point of his was that there were no core races with +0 LA and +1 Int because the designers all knew just as well as he did that it was broken. When the Grey Elf was put in his face he immediately called it a mistake and proclaimed that it wasn't supposed to be there and the authors had accidentally let it slip past.

Hell, at one point he emailed Bruce Cordell about the Blue and used Bruce's answer that the Blue should be +1 LA as proof that caster stats are too powerful for +0 LA (ignoring all the other benefits blues get). He did his best to ignore it when I emailed Bruce and got the reply that +0 LA and +2 int can be a balanced race, but the blue is not that race.

That guy was funny to debate with. :D

Well, I will certainly agree that no matter how much effort you put into designing a game to cover extreme balance issues, a player with enough genius or effort will ALWAYS be able to find a way to minmax pretty much any system.  Its a good idea to create a system that makes sure its not too easy to do that (so system does matter) but at the same time it is pretty well impossible that such a thing will succeed in and of itself, and that's where good GMing (which matters more than system, every time) comes into play.
